Help with a new amp?

Hey guys, I know pretty much nothing about car audio so i'll just throw my question out there. I have 2 10" memphis power reference subs, each at RMS of 250 and peak of 500 watts. I recently "fried" my amp somehow, though i hardly even play my music loud, but that's besides the point. My uncle hooked me up with my setup so i'm not sure of the specifications of my old amp, but since I now need to buy a new one, how many watts should i look for in an amp?

get a amp that runs 500 watts rms....since your subs will handle 250 watts rms each thats 500 total......so you want a amp that pushes 500 rms
