with funds being the major reason for my slow build, at least ive got something to listen to. im still running the stock head unit because the one i want is over 600 bux so thatll have to wait. im running these speakers: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=269-326 at $4.25 each you cant pass that up.
here is the 4 channel amp mounted

i have 2 subs but one is in my bedroom because the amp i have running the bass cant handle 2. i had it laying around in my garage so i through it in. the next step is to buy a better amp so i can have 2 subs. the capacitor, probably not necessary but when its next to free, Ill take it.

here it is all buttoned up, youd never know i had a system in my truck

this is the first time ive ever installed any stereo equipment so im learning as i go. i was quite surprised that those cheap speakers handle the amp very well. i keep cranking the volume and they continue to sound perfect. i was almost expecting them to blow as soon as i began to feed them some volume but they are holding up.
what do you guys recommend for front speakers, the infinity kappa perfects or alpine type R components? they are both about $130 at work so money wont be the deciding factor. ill probably just keep my cheapy speakers in the rear and run the good ones up front

i welded a couple thick nuts to the back of the cab and then put the amp in and ran a bolt through in 2 of the 4 mounting holes
I like the sounds of Polk momo components or Infinity Kappa myself. I know some guys here run Rainbows and Boston Acoutics Pros. To each their own, but I like components over 2 or 3-ways. I worry a little about the heat from the amps being able to dissipate through seats - they seem very close. Not very much air flow. Also, is there enough airspace for the subs? Have you ported the box?

that's the kicker 10" shallow mount right? and x2 on where you got the box or did you make it yourself?

Agreed! The Infinitys are just WAY too harsh! They would sound better if they had a silk tweeter. I also had my Infinity 5x7s fall apart on me too. The tweeter fell off on one, and another broke off when removing the speaker when I got new speakers. All I did was rotate it a little and the speaker fell off the post. Definately weren't made to last. The crossover cover fell off on 2 of em as well. Nothing a little bit of duct tape couldn't take care of, but it annoyed me hearing the cover rattle in the door.
I'm happy with my Sound Stream Tarantula 5x7's, but I'm thinking about putting components in my Expy and might try something else.
