can a push more from my amp?

here's what i've got:

kicker 200.2 amp
kicker cvr 10 2ohm

there are four posts on the back of the sub.

there is a jumper from one of the pos to one of the neg

then the other + / - are run to the amp.

is there another way to wire it up to get more power?

i've bridged it before then 10 secs after it being on it shuts off.

Sounds like you have it series wired for 4 ohm....most amps only stable down to 4 ohm bridged so if everything else if good, its kind of odd that its shutting down bridged.

Unless only the pos. and neg. of one coil are hooked up and the other coil is shorted out. Which in that case you would have a 2 ohm load on the amp, half the power handling, and who knows what for any T/S parameters.....

I would not do that. If you hook both positives together and both negatives together, then you are presenting a 1 ohm load to the amp. Most likely the amp will just shut off if you try to run it bridged at 1 ohm. Like Bartak said, most stereo amps are only designed to run at 4 ohms bridged. A few higher end amps will run 2 ohms bridged. I personally have not heard of a two channel amp that will run at 1 ohm bridged. There may be some but the Kicker is not one of them.

Why would he do that when he could just come to the other side of Choctawhatchee Bay and see me?

I remember seeing one or two... I will have to find them again. But ya .5ohm stable stereo and one ohm bridged... DEFINATELY NOT A KICKER!!!

I know some old school "cheater amps" that would do it but, they are rare and expensive.

Names like Orion, PPI, Phoenix Gold, Linear Power. Not new stuff but the old stuff would do it. I think even the early Kicker ZR stuff might have been able to pull it off.

Kinda like my little friend here!!

This is what you want. Normally 25w X2 at 4ohm. Stable to 1 ohm bridged 400w X1 and .5 ohm stereo 200w X2. Make sure its the digital reference series though. Once in a while you can still find them on e-bay. I got this one about 18 years ago when I used to work for Orion in Phoenix.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. How soon we forget about the old Kicker XS50 and XS100 amps, lol.

But I agree, if its a modern day amp, .5ohm stable stereo and one ohm bridged... DEFINATELY NOT A KICKER!!!
