Question Alpine vs. RF

Lookin at these 2 amps to power my 10" Polk MOMO SVC. I like the specs on both and like both brands. From what I can tell, the Alpine amp runs cooler since its a sub amp, but has more THD and lower signal to noise ratio, which means??

Alpine MRP-M650
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=16412

RF P325.2

Opinions & your $.02?

Alpine no doubt. D-class mono-block, that is what you want pushing your subwoofer. Alpine makes better amps anyways.

The only thing is i would do a larger 2ch for your 4 ohm woofer. Maybe a RF 500.2 or something like that. But NOTHING wrong with RF

Uhh... NO.

Do you even understand what a D-class is? And a mono-block for a SVC 4 ohm??? NO.

4 ohm use a 2ch because you can bridge it and get more power! Using a 1ch for something like that is a waste because it puts out maximum power at 2 ohm or lower. Not 4 ohm like a 2ch does.

And a D-class is just a switching network. It either has one rail on or off. Its more efficient... Yes. Better quality... Maybe. Due to the design of the D-class instead of the A/B like the RF, you are guaranteed more THD. Will it matter on a sub as much... No.

sorry :o i didnt know which subwoofer he was using, didnt consider his resistances. but as far as pushing 1 subwoofer in lower impedances, you usually want to go with a mono-block over a bridged mosfet amp. and yes I do know what D-class circuitry is...

i used to run a 4ohm subwoofer with a bridged 2channel amp and it was fine.

just a simple misunderstanding, no need to bring out the flamethrowers.

Read what I wrote earlier. You bought the wrong amp for the sub. You needed a 2ch instead of a mono. All you can do is wire it up pos to pos neg to neg.
