Exclamation Help

I was driving home today and my amp just quit working. The power light on the amp is still on but there is nothing going to the sub. I plugged in an extra sub that I had laying around and nothing came out of it either. I checked all my fuses and grounds and everything is fine. Can anyone tell me what's wrong here?

Have you tried a different set of RCAs?

I just thought today that it may be the RCAs. I pulled them out earlier and when I went to unplug it from the CD deck the little round brass fitting that goes around the plug came off and is stuck on the plug that goes into the deck. So possibly that's the problem. I'm heading to the store tomorrow to pick up another set of RCAs

Depending on the amp, there may be internal fuses.

Well the power light on the outside still comes on. Wouldn't it stay off if there was a fuse blown somewhere?

Correct. If you had any blown fuses, you shouldnt have any lights on.

Is the protect light on?

Also, do you have a voltmeter?

Ok, with some bass heavy music playing and the volume up a decent amount of the way (3/4 or so) stick your voltmeter on the amps outputs (unhook the sub first). The meter needs to be on the 200Volt AC setting. See if you are getting a reading at all.

If not, assuming all the wiring and settings are correct, you might need a new amp.
