Heat is the byproduct of making power, so it's natural for the amp to be hot. It's a matter of how hot is too hot. The cooler the amp stays the longer it will work. The best place to mount it would be out in the open with plenty of fresh air movement, of couse most of us don't like to see the amps, so they end up under the seat, behind the seat, ect. If your amp already has a cooling fan, make sure it is not blocked. If it doesn't have one, you can add one or two. Also put some space between the carpet and the amp for more air flow. Bazooka has/had some amps with built in liquid cooling, like a radiator, sounded pretty cool, not sure if they are still around

Is there plenty of room around the amp for proper cooling and such? Not a bunch of crap piled ontop of it either (coats, rags, tools, etc).

If its not overheating enough that its going into protect I wouldnt worry to much about it, but if you are wanting a little cooler, try some small 12v computer case fans. You can get them cheap at some place like Radio Shack

If you only have one or two smaller ones you can wire them right into your amps turn on wire.

If you are going to have a larger amount I would run a separate line from a switched wire in the fusebox or somewhere...

yep, both my comp amp and sub amp, and all 4 fans are controlled by a 40amp relay ( fused at 7.5 amps however). my 2 60mm fans blow 35 CFM each and the 120mm fans blow 115 CFM each. the loudest i've recorded them to be yet with the back seat off is ~ 39.5 DB. i'll get picks in a few.

my bad

sorry, kinda forgot the pics, the first one is my comp amp, the 2 60mm fans are just to the left.

the second one is the sub amp, you can just make out the front 120mm fan to the left side of the amp (which just happens to be the power supply side{the hottest part}) the 2nd fan is behind the first.

also in the first pic you can see the relay i use to control it all.

I usually like to put about a 1/4 inch of space between the mounting surface and the amp, It helps with dispersion of heat quite well
I like to use 10 ga or 8 ga grommets...or I double up the 4 ga with 8 ga for added support on larger amps.
