Stupid AMp Trouble!!

Well got everything hooked up and all the wires and everything hidden under my seats and everything. Once we hooked the amp and put the fuse in all hell went through. Amp was working fine along with everything else but no power was going to the subwoofers in the back!! So after having trusty JBL Neighbor come over and check it out with voltage meter he realized the output signal was messed up. So basically my amp is broken and i got to wait for another one to come if they warranty me back (Sonic Electronix) Hopefully they will, but JBL man said i prolly won't get that to happen so im pissed off!!!
So much for buying that Hifonics Bxi606 Amp with no problems like some of you guys said!!

How exactley was the signal messed up? Just getting zero reading on the volt meter or what?

Your sure everything was hooked up and set up correctly? One little overlooked setting on an amp or HU can make you pull hairs out like no tomorrow.

Was the amp new or a refurb??

im pretty sure the amp was new....but i have no clue.

The output signal was so low. The input on the RCA's were getting higher as i turned the sound up. And the voltage meter was reading really really low on the output.

I had my coach do the install (worked in audio, judged car shows ect.) and his neighbor (JBL Representative) take a look and thats what he said the problem was that it was a bad amp.

BTW i went into the JBL guys garage....talk about lots of car audio stuff. He probably had 100 Subs in there. 40 amps, tons of speakers. i was like WOAH!!

Sonixelectronics has a good reputation along with hifonics. My guess is you may have got a dud. It happens to everyone sooner or later. You just happen to be sooner. So call up sonixelelectronics and get it replaced.

I do have a question though, with your coach obvious well experienced and a JBL employee right there in your neck of the woods, why did you come here asking for advice when you had industry experts right there with you? A Ford enthusiast website wouldn't be my first choice for recommendations.

id double check all your wiring. if you wired all your subs in series and together in series you would come out to a 16 ohm load in which case your output would be very tiny. also check your gains, fix the amps sensitivity to match your HU. also check your crossovers, your low pass filters and your Line Out Converter (if you have one). make sure your amp is sending the right frequencies to your subs.

hifonics makes good amps, but if you have a dud, just call them like Impact said. ive ordered tons of stuff from sonicelectronix and they have good customer service.

Yeah both of them double checked the wiring and everything seemed to be going good. We wired them both and then tryed just wiring one of the subs and both of the times nothing worked.

The customer service with the Sonic Electronix seems kind of shaky. There return policy and everything is hard to understand it won't let me get a Return Number on the thing i bought because i guess its been over a certain amout of days since i bought it. I sent in a report to them so hopefully that will go through and everything will work out.

The JBL guy was tryin to get me to buy an amp and everything. I will be purchasing some 5 x 7 speakers from him later on in the upcoming motnths.
Just really wanted to check out what you guys know about the customer service for the website and how it works and if everything wnet through okay

Call them on the phone. Be polite but still stern and let them know your not just going to take this like that. Tell them that you bought it but just now installed it for the first time. All you have to do is tell them the truth, tell them what YOU think they should do for you, and dont back down, but dont be an ****. 99% of the time they will end up doing what you want or pretty close to it.
