Bass remote control wire???

I have lost my Bass remote control wire.....

What can I replace it with, it looks just like a phone cord, but i noticed that the phone cord only has 2 wires in it...

Can I use a phone cord or is there a specific cord to use???

I have a Hifonics Zeus ZX6000 amp.

You can probably use a standard telephone cable if it's the right connector. The only thing to look out for is to make sure the two wires inside the head of that RJ11 correspond to the same polarity and all of a telephone cable.

For example, if your amp's bass control module has a red on the left side and black on the right side on one end of the wire... and then on the other end it's reversed, you may have a problem which could require you to cut and recrimp a new connector.

I did this when I did the custom install of my Valentine 1 radar detector. It uses standard CAT3 cable (4-wire) with RJ11 connectors (basically, wire and connectors are standard telephone cables). In order to cut back on the wire behind the dash, I bought some extra RJ11 connections and cut up the CAT3 cable to length and then crimped on the new RJ11's.

Usually they are a little bit different.
Contact HIFonics and see if they would send you one.

I didnt get one for the remote gain on my DA amp, and they sent me out a free chord and remote gain ****...might be something to try. That way you know its right too.

I ran into the same type of problem with my Rockford amp - the bass control was broken during shipping - I had to go direct with Rockford to get a new one. Nothing else would work.

Good Luck!

Wink

Im with Bartak1 and ibcop on this one. I have had many instances like this before and just called the customer service number for the company and they are always glad to send one out free of charge. I have never even been charged shipping before. You normally just get lucky and find a tech guy that is human to.

Good luck bro,
The Ghost
