series the voice coils of each sub, this would make each sub a 4 ohm load, then parallel the pair of subs down to a single 2 ohm load... basically your going from xx xx xx xx -> xx xx -> xx

that little diagram may mean nothing at all to you but i was trying to use a visual..haha

You can wire each sub in series to achieve a 4 ohm load or in parallel to get a 1 ohm load. If you are running 2 subs, you can go to 8 ohms, which would be both subs wired in series, back at 2 ohms, which would be wired in series parallel, or .5 ohms, which would be wired in parallel. I like RF's Subwoofer wiring diagram:

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp

Just put in the number of woofers, the impedance of each one (single 4 ohm, dual 4 ohm, etc) then click on the available wiring options and it will show you all the possibilities.
