Another Amp Issue

System.
DEH-P8MP
Running of sub out put.
Rockford 200X2 (xcard style amp)
10 orian XTR DVC running 2 ohm mono.
8g power and ground.

I have a Punch 200X2 (old school Rockford amp Black oval X-card style). On my way to work I have bumping along and it just shut off. I have had issues in the past with the Ground but I was thinking I had that fixed. I have the amp grounded to a seat post and I have used some steal wool to take some of the paint off the nut and the mounting point. I have the box under the rear seat (S-crew) and I have the amp in the middle under the rear seat.
I know it is not the power at least at the fuse under the hood.
Here is my list of questions…

Should I re-wire the sub to 8ohm? (this amp should be FINE running 2ohm or 1ohm)
Should I change the ground? If so where?
Can I mount this amp some other place? Could it be mounted on the back of the 40% rear seat? It is pain to pull it out and do any changes or check it out.
Is there a way to test the Speaker Out puts to check if the sub is getting Power? It is easier to pull the box then the amp.
ANY INPUT?

I wouldn't wire it to 8 ohm because that will cut the power in half being delivered to them. So if you have 200w coming at it now it will be 100w at 8 ohm.

I would think the seat post are fine. But you could try grounding to the frame.

Check the remote wire maybe it came loose.

I can't say since you have a 01. Might make a post or search with where to mount amps in a 01 crew cab.

Is the amp not turning on at all?

Or the amp is on, but no music?

i am going to guess amp is done... it powered up but no sound... took sub in the house worked fine... placed a 6x9 on amp speaker wires and it was like i had wired to the 12volt and the ground... i am going to take it to the local best buy and ask them to bench test it... if they can get sound i will check the RCAs.

I doubt your RCA cables are both bad at the same time. Would you happen to have a MP3 player or portable CD player you can hook to the amp using a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA adapter? You can get the adapters at Wal-mart, best buy, places like that. If the sound comes through the amp then the amp works.

Geesh some day I'll remember all the crap at the same time instead of days apart.

Depends. Whats the amp worth? What would it cost to get a different one to replace it? Is it an amp you would really like to keep?

Id call RF and see exactley what they want to fix it first.
