Let the install hell begin.....

Finally got all my stuff purchased and ready to slap together... Took the rear seat out last night and what an experience that was. I researched the hell out of how to take it out and it was still a pain in the A**. Once I got it off and actually saw how the clips worked will make it easier in the future though.

One thing I noticed on the back wall that I haven't heard anyone mention yet is the "Body Security Module"? What in the hell is that thing? I didn't think I had a factory alarm or anything? I had to move that to get an amp to fit

I have Precision Power amps and they just barely and I mean barely fit. I had to mount the sub amp vertically to get it to fit and still had to move the security module. Whatever happens.... the install isn't going to be pretty which isn't a bad thing since you'll never see it. Just one of those things you that exists and bothers you.

The rear power window motor is surely in the way... I've read some people relocating it but there isn't any slack in the wire at all to move it?

I had the 8inch version of the same subs in a smaller box with the same amp. It was the best sounding box I've ever had. Its why I went with them this time. They are extremely cheap and sound as good as most twice the cost. I've had IDQ, JL and Kicker in the past. For some reason my ears like these best and my wallet doesnt complain at all.

search these forums I've run across a lot of post on moving that rear window motor. I don't have the powered window so I can't give instructions on that. Far as moving anything else I just moved the security module to the back pillars along with anything else.

looks like one heck of a setup you have going although i probably wouldn't use the kick panel speakers in conjunction with the door speakers for sound stage sake.

I am going to do a center channel must like yours. But 3/4 MDF has to set up real high. I cut a template out of 1/4 inch Masonite and that sits fulsh in the corners... How did you do yours?

I think I used 3/4" MDF. I used my router to make a 1/2" wide rabbit along the edge to allow the panel to recess into the dash and another rabbit on the speaker hole to make the speaker lay flush with the panel.

I just did mine..... Used 3/4 particle board because i didn't want to be pay 30 for a full sheet of MDF.. I under mounted the speaker and recessed the tweeter since I'm using separates.. Took a pencil and did an outline of what little left of wood stuck out and sanded it flush... Going to use some flat cotton baffle and grill cloth to finish it off... You using the alpine DSP unit for 5.1?

nah my Kenwood deck has built in 5.1 processing. You'll quickly become addicted to 5.1 music soon as you hear it. The sound card in my computer came with a 5.1 DVD audio sample disk. I tossed that in there to test the system and I instantly loved the higher quality music in DVD surround sound.

My alpine has it 5.1 built in too but there is no output for center? The Kenwood has a center output?

I already own several DVD audio discs from home and love them . They are getting way to hard to find now though.

The door speaker is a Midbass only. Runs from 80-250. Plus I have the ability to do some time delay with the Alpine Unit. I had this setup in previous 01 Crew Lariat and the sound stage was nice. 5.25 in kick panels just don't have enough mids for my taste. I like to feel a little punch from snare drums... This set up does it nice.
