Amp or new HU?

I just installed Rockford 5x7's all around and still have my factory 6 disc cd changer. I want to keep the factory HU b/c of the 6 disc changer.....but i want a little more out of my speakers..

So, either i change my HU to get more watts to my speakers....or i just run a amp to them?? I have a 4 channel 400 watt amp that i could use for that??

what should i do?? has anyone done this?? do you think this amp would be good? any suggestions??

Thanks

Are you looking for more volume, or more tuning ability?

If you already have an amp you might as well throw it in and see if it does what your wanting.

What are the specs on the speakers, and what is the amp?

Sounds like an amp is all you want then.

What is the RMS of that amp? RMS ratings are the only power numbers you want to look at, peak power means absolutley nothing.
Even though your speakers are 75 watts, an amp that only does 50 watts RMS per channel will make a huge improvment over how the are powered now...

ok...so what would be the best way to hook up my amp to my speakers....get a high/low converter and run rca's for my amps ( i have 2 amps in my truck, one for my subs, and one for my door speakers).....

then run all new speaker wire to my speakers.....also where should i mount my amps?? its going to get kind of clustered with all this sweet stuff im hooking up in my truck haha

also has anyone done this before......words of advice?? pics maybe??

THanks

Yes, I would get a line out convertor. You can get a two channel one and split the signal with RCA splitters, and one run set to the sub amp and one to the speaker amp. Then you would also need a set of splitters at the speaker amp to get input to the front and rear channels. You will not have front to rear fade this way though, if it matters.

Or else get a four channel LOC, or 2 two channels so you can run one to the rear inputs on the speaker amp, then the other one to the front inputs and split with splitters to the sub amp.

If any of your amps have RCA outputs/pass thoughs then you can use those too, and reduce the number of RCA splitters you would need.

What year and cab configuration on.
On the back wall, behind the seat back, is a great place on SuperCrews and Supercabs.

ok..this is what i plan on doing.......i am gonna check my amp out....if it doesnt put out atleast 50 watts rms power....i am gonna to get a new one....then i am going to get a high/low converter ( 2 channel) so i can run rca cables from both amps to the converter......i already made a pig tail behind my radio (so i dont have to cut into my factory wiring)
then i am going to run new speaker wire for my door speakers

2004 ext.cab.....thats my truck
