What size guage power and ground wire should i run for this amp?

Also are there any rca cables that will also take place of the remote turn on wire?
Basicly what im asking is what wiring would you use for this amp?

you will need to run a seperate amp remote wire. there is a relay inside the amp, and the relay wont activate unless it has power to it

but generally 4 gauge is good, unless you are doing multiple amps, or a really really big amp, and then need to go up to 2, or 0/1awg

I got my kit from crutchfield with everything in it, a wire is a wire to me. Im not that deep into audiophile stuff yet, nor do i have equipment worth a 300 dollar amp kit....

i think the kit was 60 bucks for a complete 4awg kit with RCAs remote wire, fused power wire, ground

I like the following:
For Power: Kolossus Kable 4 Gauge Blue Power Wire
For Ground: Kolossus Kable 4 Gauge Silver Power Wire
For RCAs: Krystal Kable 2 Channel 6M Twisted Pair RCA Cable

For the remote wire, I used some 12 Gauge speaker wire. I used the silver strand from this: Karma 12AWG Speaker Kable. You will run this from the remote wire out of the head unit to the back where you have your amp(s).

Check ebay for these guys. They sell on ebay for anywhere between 15 and 30% less than on their site from my experience. The delivery times are good as well.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

EDIT: If you haven't run the power to the back yet, I would recommend a 1/0 kit from Knukonceptz for that. It comes with the fuse. The reason I like the knukonceptz stuff is that it is just as high a quality as Stinger, which is what I used before, at quite a bit lower cost. Good choice on the amp!

Dave

I am not sure if this is what you were asking but, there are some rca cables that have an additional thin wire hooked with them that can be used for the remote wire. Rockford makes a lot of them.

You shouldnt use that wire as a remote, it should be used as a ground and a separate remote wire should be ran. It is there to help cancel noise (signal interference).

Also (and you probably already know this) you should run the power wire and remote on one side, and the rca's on the other (again to help reduce signal interference).

And yea, 4 gauge is fine for that amp. But look at the actual number of wires in different 4 gauge wires. Some have more than others, that is how you will tell if you are getting a quality wire or not. Some 4 gauge are barely more conductive than some 8 gauge wires (the insulation will just be thick making it appear to be the same thickness as a quality 4 gauge wire).

As a ground for what? And why do they list the product as rca with built in remote wire? I am not trying to argue, just clarify. I have used the wires in the past with no problems. Please clarify. Thanks.

I like the idea of rca cables with the built in remote wire. Could you guys recommend some.

The ground wire on RCA's is there to help cancel noise (signal interference).
I would never use or run any voltage wire close to a RCA....

In theory the ground wire will bleed noise (signal interference) to ground before it can inter the shielding on the RCA..... being to ground wire has no shielding and is grounded at both ends.... some wire maker have stated its for a amp control and this is what most people think it for and is a very good selling point...

Think about it, whats the last thing you want to do when running RCA's.. (to run with power) you STAY as far from power wires as possible, so, why run power right though the middle of your RCA's....

Ford factory sub wire is setup the same way if you look at a wiring chart... signal wires are shielded with a ground bleed off, one end is grounded though the HU ground and the other is grounded though the sub amp ground..

Do I have this, NO... Do I think it really does anything... MAYBE.... BUT,I would never use that wire for a amp control.... either ground it or buy RCA's without it... ungrounded, it can pick up noise (signal interference) again running right though the middle of your RCA's....

My 2 cents....

that does make sense now that you explained it.

I just got a sweet 4 gauge kit off ebay for $37 DLVD and it is very nice! My RCA's come with the extra ground cable twisted through the RCA's like stated above, but he kit also came with a dedicated remote wire so that is not an issue. I just was wondering where I am supposed to ground this tiny wire at?

Yeah check Knukonceptz on ebay they have several RCA options, I went with the $25 dlvd version. My lit only came with one and I needed two
As far as kits go there are alos many many options on ebay for quality stuff at low pirces. Like it has been said above, compare them verus each other and pick what is right for you. I have a 4channel amp and went with a 4gauge kit. It cost $37 dlvd, and I am more than happy with it, I only need to pick up another RCA cable very few come with more than one unless you get more than you need.
