stock head unit, custom box with poineer slime line 12's(x2),punch bd1000 amp to go with woofers, kappa component front speakers and kappa rear coax speakers all 4 are stock size 5x8.
i have tried several brand amps to put on my door speakers and cannot find a good one to stay with.
1. rf 600x5 the best amp i ever ran with these speakers, unfortunatly the amp has intermittent failure that cuts out at any given moment and they cannot find the probelm with it.(i still have it in the garage) sound was superb to me.
2. old skool phoenix gold amp 4ch, chrome plated if anybody knows which one it is, took it off my wrecked stang that was pushing 4 6x9's. i just dont like the way it sounds, like it has to much bass in the speakers.
3. boss 350, it is also a 4ch amp. i was told to try it out that sometimes the name brand stuff suck and if u go the cheap route it COULD sound good. not in my case, it really distorts the rear speakers and the gain is very low.
i dont know if its the kappas them self or what but since day one, i have never really had any good mid range sound from these.
would i have been better off going with some round one of this brand or anyother brand.
well my main question is what amp do i use to push these kappas, i really dont mind spending some money as long as i get something that sounds good. granted what sounds good to u may not be to me, but u know what i mean.

which zapco amp should i go with and best place to buy new or used? also should i, in the event i want to upgrade speakers what should i go with and should i put all 4 with a component set in the front??? also how do i fit some round speakers in the doors??? thanx for the help. at this time i still have a stock headunit.
First, good SQ starts with a clean source. I would either add a JL Clean Sweep or Audio Control LC-6 with your stock HU or go with a good aftermarket source unit. I tried the JL Clean Sweep and it sounded very good, but I wanted something better so I went with the Eclipse CD7100. Awesome HU!
Second, which amp to run depends on your speakers RMS rating and how much you want to spend. Or get the amp you want and buy speakers that can handle the RMS rating of the amp.
I would suggest comps for your front stage. If you want rearfill, I would use a good quality coax or midbass driver.
I have 6.5" comps (rated for 150w rms) up front. My rear speakers are 6.5" midbass drivers (150w rms) running bandpass (80Hz-4kHz). My DC1000.4 delivers 150w x 4 rms @ 4 ohms.
I would need more info in order to give you more specific suggestions.
