Amp for Comps / Sub
Amp for Comps / Sub
Hello everyone
I’m going to be running Rainbow SLC 6.5 comps in the front with stock speakers in the back. Probably going to upgrade to 6.5 germs in the front and throw the SLCs in the rear. With that in Mind what amp would be recommended, I was thinking of a two channel, but considering the upgrade down the road I would like to get a four channel.
Second I'll be getting a jl 8W7, was wondering If I could find a single amp to power everything. Thanks again!

What kind of cab do you have? Heck, even with a Screw I would skip the rear fill. UNLESS you really like your rear fill sound.
If it were me I would totally bypass the SLCs and go straight for the Germs if you plan on getting them later on down the road. Spending 250 bucks or however much they are for rear fill just isnt worth it IMO.
Have you considered something like that?
Germs in front, big 4 channel, bridge rear channels for the 8dubya7, and totally skip the rears? Less money and messing around with stuff in the end...
If your still wanting to go with your original route, I would get a 4 channel. Something that will power the Germ. Keep the gains down for the SLC's, then when you stick the Germs on them you can set the gains up, and keep the gains down on the rear channels for the SLCs. You can run the rear channels briged on the sub till you get the Germs...
Then either get a 2 channel or mono for the sub.
OR
If you are getting the sub later on with the Germs, get a two channel for the SLC's that will also work on the sub, bridged. Then when you get the Germs, get a 4 channel for all the comps, and stick the 2 channel on the sub.
OR
Find a 5 or 6 channel that will work...
Any way will work fine. Just depends what your budget can afford at the time or what you find for equipment...

Hey Bartak, Thanks for the advice!
I actually went with the US-Amps AX4300 with much debate between that and the US-Amps MD22. I plan on running them bridged for the front at 180w @4ohms. I'll run the rear off the W200. If I do decide to go with the germs Im going to sell the entire SLC set w/ amp and just start brand new. However I was actually able to listen to a set of SLC comps and it met all my needs, I can't even begin to fathom how much germs would destroy my senses.
And that was the deal breaker; buy the 4 channel, get another set of SLC's then run them all at 75w. Budget wise that made more sense to me IMO, personally I want to get a PXA-h701 and go active, than go germs! Who knows everything is still up for grabs.

No problem.
That'll work
