Did I read somewhere that the truck shouldn't be driven without the seat back on??

I do not see why not. I have temporarily while I was working back their but, not for extended periods. You can really tell how much noise the seat blocks with it off like that. But, I do not see what could be the harm.

I'll have to find the document I was reading that mentioned it. I want to say it was a Ford PDF on seat removal that said the seat was instrumental to the cab alignment or some BS. Doesn't sound accurate at all.

3. CAUTION: Do not operate the vehicle with the rear seat cushion removed. The two rear outboard nuts hold the chassis to the frame, and the chassis may move if driven. Discard the two outboard nuts and install new. Remove the parts in the order listed in the illustration and table..

The seat bolts are the ones that are like 8" long and are really hard to remove. I think they are the far left and right bolts holding the bottom seat in place.

Now the seat bottom does make more sense but, not the seat back. Good tip.

Correct. When you take out the bolts you'll know the ones we're talking about.

now i understand what your saying i was thinking of the seat back too but yes the bottom part of the seat is held in with some long bolts so they probably do help hold the cab down good info thanks
