I am thinking about getting a sub. I wanted to know if this amp will power this sub sufficiently. If not what can you suggest in the price range of $100-200. I am already getting that same model of amp to power my MB Quart components. So I figured if it will work I get two one for the components and one for the sub. What do you think. Thank you in advance for all your help.

 

Yes and no. With the sub being a DVC 4 ohm, you wont be able to run it bridged off that amp, which is idealy what you would want to do.

You would either have to wire it in series for a final load of 8 ohm and run it bridged, which would only give you 230ish watts (which will probably power it just fine, I doubt youll notice a big difference between 230 watts and say 300 watts if you ran that sub at its RMS rating)

OR wire it in parallel for 2 ohms final and run it off just one channel, to get 230 watts.

OR IF that amp can run in a 'mono 2 channel mode' you could wire each voice coil on a channel and get 300 watts. It doesnt say it is on that site, but it still could be...I wouldnt count on it though.

What I would do is try to find a SVC 4 ohm version of that sub and run in bridged off that amp and get your 460 watts. Just watch the gain and volume **** if you go that route.

But, if your wanting to go with those two pieces of equipment, I would just run it bridged at 8 ohm and youll be seeing about 230 watts, easily sufficient to power that sub. And if you ever want to get a second sub like it, you can run them both bridged on there at 4 ohm and send 460 watts to them.
