Kicker 700.5 & Sub Box Question

I just bought the Kicker 700.5 (5 channel) amp. As soon as it gets here, I will snap some pics of it installed in my truck. I am using the 65x4 to run my four new door speakers. I will be using the last channel (the sub channel), to run my two Kicker 10s.

Does anyone have this amp or heard a system with it? also, I still need a box for my 10s to go under the rear seat of my '02 SCab. Does anyone know where to get a box at a decent price?

hone stly id build a box yourself, otherwise go to www.woofersetc.com and look there.
as far as the one amp to run 4 speakers AND 2 subs id say it wont sound good because theres not much power going to the subs and they can take alot.
(what subs did you get)
i personally am running an elimental designs nine.1 1200watt amp for my 2 kicker 10"L7's and there in a dual ported box.

as far as my door speakers go im running a kicker 250.5 amp for 2 5x7 door speakers.

Hope this helps somewhat and if you have any questions ill be more than happy to try to help.

Nick

How do you like the phoenix gold components? Where did you mount the tweeters?

If you can wire your subs for a final load of 2 ohms then you should be fine. 420 watts is plenty for those subs. I may not get rattle your teeth and shake everything in the truck loud but, will get plenty loud. I have run as little as 200 watts on a sub in my truck and it is plenty of bass for most tastes. Kinda depends on how much is enough for you. I think you will like it

dconder, you seem to know the most out of anyone here. With that Kicker 700.5, I will have it running some decent Polk coaxials in all four doors. Then, I still have to get a box and 10s to go under the rear seat. What box/subs should I get for that particular amp? Should I go with a single 10? My budget is around $300 for the sub(s) and box. I am not looking to enter any competitions with the truck, I just want it to sound good when I am at the beach and open the doors up.

Thanks!

I would never say I know the most. I will say I have been around this a long time and have seen and heard a lot. I do know that it does not take big huge watts to get good sound. I'm rambling already,

If you have not bought the subs, I would look at the Elemental Designs 11Kv2. You can find them on their website, www.edesignaudio.com. If you enter forum in the search, you can pick them up for around $65 each plus shipping. Around $150 shipped for the pair. They are a great inexpensive sub. If you want to spend more, I would highly recommen the Image Dynamics IDQ. That is what I am using. Brand new, they will run in the $300 range for a pair. They are excellent SQ subs. Neither the ED or the IDQ needs a ton of power to get loud and sound good doing it. There are tons of premade boxes on ebay for less than $100. Heck, the box I am using, I bought from a local place and paid $55 for it. No tax or nothing. Its made out of 3/4" MDF too. If you want a more custom box, then you can look at musicmoose or supercrew sound. They can custom carpet your color and have several other options you can choose. If you are not wanting to go more than $300 total, I say pick up the ED subs and a premade box and you are done.

Also, whatever subs you get, be sure and get either dual 2 ohm or single 4 ohm voice coils. Either one can be wired @ 2ohms. If you are going to go with just one sub, get a dual 4 ohm and wire it to 2 ohm. I would personally get 2 subs. Hope that helps at all.

I love my speakers and i put the tweeters behind the door pannel grill....just custom made a mount.

as far as the wattage to the subs i wanted mine to be loud and rattle....so thats why mine are ran the way they are

but yes, you can do some good sound from low watt's, and like whats been said its up to your sound preferance.

ED makes amazing stuff and their subs and amps work great with a good warranty as well.
