Older Zapco

I have a Zapco AG 750 I have used it for a couple of years with no problem. But now that I have installed it in my truck whenever the bass hits harder then normal it makes the fuse blow...

Any Ideas..

According to the zapco site the amp has 3 25a fuses. Are they blowing or is it your inline fuse?

No I'm not blowing the in-line I'm blowing the 3 25a all at once. It plays fine till it gets a long or harder then normal bass drop. I used to power 2 12's with it now I'm only powering one 10. I really lost as to what the problem could be.

I would try and check your voltage at the amp. If you have a DMM, check it with the engine running with it cranked up pretty good and see if you are getting a drop. Its not a solution but, it might tell you that it is in the amp or in the wiring.

It is only rated for a 4 ohm mono load. Could be a contender.

I have it bridged, Do you think un-bridging ti will help?

I also have the gain turned WAY LOW to help.

Also I have a one fared(sp) cap in-line before the amp to help with power.

What is the sub and how is it wired?

It's gotta be the final impedance. We need to know the ohm rating of the sub and how it is wired (parallel or series).

It will either be a dual 4 or dual 2 ohm sub. Either way, if you are running it in parallel, this could be your problem. Dual 4 run in parallel will be 2 ohm. Dual 2 will be 1 ohm. Your amp is only designed to run a 4 ohm bridged load. If it is dual 4, wire it in series to present an 8 ohm load. It will cut your power in half. If it is dual 2, wire it in series for 4 ohm load and full bridged power.
