ok i just bought a 2005 f150 stx, it has the 6 disc cd changer

i was wondering if it has everything on it that i need to run an 600 watt amp off of it for my 2 10s, or if i would have to get a new headunit

It wont have RCA pre-outs if that what your asking. You can still run them off the factory HU but will have to use a Line-Out Convertor to do so. Search the threads as the question has been asked many a time.

Yeah u will need the convertor, I have 2 12's and an 800 watt amp on my factory cd player, itll work...the bass at higher level sounds distorted though

dont run a convertor, they suck because you have less freedom of tuning, decreased sound quality, and sometimes its not fun finding the wires to tap for your rear speakers (usually taped for line out convertor)

what I mean is...say i turn the gain all the way up on my amp, and the bass up on my headunit, and the volume all the way up....sounds like crap. But that could just be my speakers. But It can be done and will play good at high levels, im just speaking of maxing it out. Althought I would recommend replacing the headunit...only if u want the 'BEST' sound. Another thing I notice with my factory headunit is when i have a fast beat song playing with the subs hitting at midlevel...the actual bass (or boom) coming from the subs is slightly lagging behind the actual beat of the song or the midbass my door speakers give off. Hardly noticable, but it is noticable...
