Amp question????

In general what should be looked for in a amp. I dont mean brand, watts, impedence. What makes it work correctly I have seen carbon fiber, keflar, bulletproof, gold, black etc. amps are these an others efficent or extras?

An amp that matches your speakers/sub and fits in your budget is a start.

Other than that...it depends on a component amp or sub amp. There's a few things to look at, but nothing that is drastically gonna make amp A sound that much different than amp B.

So a sub amp that has titaniaum alloy or something like that does not affect its production(clipping, overheating etc.)..........

The old saying rings true, you get what you pay for. All the fancy names and outrageous ratings really mean nothing. Stick to good solid brand names and like Bryan said, what fits your budget and you should be fine.

Say the budget was fine and was comparing different amps that where all the same price, "solid brand names", impedence was good basicly all same quality. But were made with different materials carbon fiber, alloy, bulletbroof etc. how would this make a difference?????????

Gimmicks IMHO. Can you give specifics of these amps?

I agree. Nothing that is going to matter to how they sound which is what matters most.

Im just speaking in general but mono blocks in particular. Punch, JL, Soundstream, Zapco, Lanzar etc. Its like every amp I see has different makings. Sound is not the only thing that matters. What about overheating, clipping how long it can produce whatever watts it says............

You are getting wrapped up in specs and features that will really not make sound quality difference. Clipping is directly related to sound quality. Any good brand name amp installed properly, should not have any concerns about overheating or clipping. Again, once installed properly, all quality amps should produce good results. Other than power differences, most people are not even going to be able to tell a difference in mono amps with similar specs.

Does the same apply for subs? If a busted coil was on a good amp would it overheat???
