Will amp overheat under front seats?

I haven't been able to find an answer to this question on the forums,

I know a lot of you mount an amp under the front seat. Do you ever have overheating problems? The amp I will be using has an internal fan, and will fit under the seat (on top of the floor vent). The problem I see is when using the floor heating for back passengers in a supercrew, would this cause an amp to overheat? Seems like a good place..... screws should go into that flat plastic vent easily and securely. Is there a way to remove the lower seat cushion up front without unbolting the entire seat frame?

I have an amp (brand will remain unsaid) that gets so hot you could cook a steak on it, even if you have a fan running across it, but I have never had an overheating problem with it under my seat. I dont think you should have a problem.

I have no idea about the seats and what not though.

The amp is only going to overheat as much as you drive it. Maybe you could answer your own question. My amps rarely get warmer than my shower water. But I intend to keep my hearing until i'm at least 40... Oh... man, what happened, I'm married, kid on the way, have a house, and DON"T LISTEN TO MUSIC LOUD! WHAT HAVE I BECOME!!! AAARRRGGHHH

I highly doubt you will have an overheating problem under the front seats, even with the heat on for the rear passengers. If the amp has an internal fan, it should definatly not overheat. If it doesn't have a fan then the amp should just shut off if it does overheat. I personally dont think you will have a problem.

Be careful working under the front seats because there are wiring harnesses that run through the floor!

So if the amp overheats under the seat could this be fixed by moving it?

Yeah after I ordered this stuff, one day I was driving without the stereo even on, wondering why I just dropped all this dough on a stereo, and here I am rolling with no music on........... guess it is age and kids and all that. Although the kids do appreciate a good impromptu air guitar concert now and then.

Still haven't received it, waiting like a kid at Christmas though. Never actually had an amp, so I wasn't sure how hot it would get, just read on here about overheating issues, and wondered about under the seat because it gets real toasty under there with the floor vents on.

Thanks, folks

if it does start overheating then you can relocate, i suggest the rearwall behind the rear seat.

I am not familiar with the underneath of the front bench seat in a regular cab. If there is room to mount your amps under the front seats then go for it, if there is an overheating problem then put a small 12 volt fan under the seat or relocate the amp. I can almost assure you that you should not have overheating problems unless you are trying to get large amounts of power from a small amplifier. Just be careful becuase there are wire harnesses running underneath the carpet of the new trucks.
