single cab amp placement/install
single cab amp placement/install
Hey, if it was up to you, where would you place a 4-channel amp, and how hard is the install??? Is a seat lift necessary???
(the few that I'm lookin' at are around 12" long by about 10" wide by about 2" high...)
Thanks in advance for your advice

I have an 02 reg cab and I have my 4 channel RF amp under my drivers seat and my sub amp behind my drivers seat on the hump that runs all the way behind the seats. I pulled out that black storage plastic box.
My amp is under the driver seat. The sub sits along the hump that runs behind the seats. Enclosure is 3 feet long.
Once I get around to buying a new amp, I'll remove the jack and stuff under the passenger seat and mount the amp there, then use the one under the driver seat for my door speakers instead.

First off, what is an RF amp?
And, tell me about your sub enclosures. I know I need to build a box or something, but I wanna know more. And, What is the method that's preferred for securing the amp to the floor? (same question for the sub)

RF stands for the brand Rockford Fosgate.
Certian subs call for certian sized boxes (volume of the box)
Most commonly used material is 3/4 inch MDF (medium density fiberboard), which works for most applications. If you have access to a table saw to cut your peices, use it. You want everything to fit PERFECT. Glue all your pieces together (I use Liquid Nails) and either clamp the box together till it dries, or screw it together to hold it while the glue dries. Then seal it up will some silicone or the like. Make it air tight. Any little air leak can be a PITA.
For the amp under my seat, I put screws into the carpet. Not through the floor, just the carpet. Screws havent pulled out yet (and I drive crazy).
My sub box is bolted to my floor too
Unless some worthless thief has a 9/16ths inch socket, they arent going anywhere with my subs. And its not going to go flying anywhere if I run into something.

(sorry Ive been off the forums for awhile)
Whats the best way to do the bolting to the floor if I don't have carpet (rubber floors--they're great). I figure I'll have to do some drilling, etc...but What's ur take?

Also, since I had my headunit installed at Best Buy, I dunno how to do the wiring for anything save for the speakers. (I replaced these myself.) Please instruct me as to how I can wire in the amp (or do you think I need to dual amp?) and wire in 2 subs? (is this a good # of subs, or do I need a more/lesser #?)
Thanks.
Thanks.
