Amp Cooling fan for behind seat install?

I'm getting ready to add a sub to my '05 Supercrew and I would like to install the amp behind the rear seat. Has anyone installed an amp without a cooling fan back there? Is there enough airflow for an amp without the fan?

Did you already get the amp? if not get one with a built in fan like a rockford power or boston acoustics etc...

I use to have my PPI amps installed behind the rear quarter panles in my QX4 and I never had a heat problem.

Anyone have pictures of there amps installed behind the seats?

rockfords neet fans because they suck.
I had a rockford 700s I was running bridged at 4ohms (i'd tried other configurations with worse results) and it used to overheat on a daily basis.

now I have a Viper Audio (PPI) D1200.1 I was running at 1ohm with the gain ar 4/5ths and it never even gets hot.. luke warm at best on a warm day. the rockford I couldnt even touch it was so hot at times.

but if you really think you neds fans, go to newegg.com and buy a 4 pack of 80mm computer fans and wire thm into the power cable going to your amp with a 2amp fuse. they should provide plenty of air movement and shouldnt cost you more then $20 shipped.

You shouldnt need fans. I havent heard of anyone with problems overheating without a fan.

cooling fans?

I don't claim to be super experianced, but I've ran pioneer, kenwood, alpine and autotek amps without EVER needing cooling fans. And pioneer and kenwood arn't exactily known to be high quality amps. Both of which I had installed in a closed trunk of my 318i with zero ventilation. I currentily have an autotek installed on the back wall of my F-150 reg cab, flare side... it never even gets hot... warm is about it. I think someone who mentioned needing cooling fans as being crap was spot on the money. Unless you're talking about enclosing the amp in a box not much bigger than the amp and not allowing any ventilation, I'd think a quality amp will be okay without fans.
