What kind of difference can I expect?
What kind of difference can I expect?
Well I'm making some changes to my system:
I had a kenwood double din DPX-4020 in my F-150....
I'm upgrading to a pioneer AVIC-D1
I had a JL 300/4 amp pushing 4 sets of Boston Acoustics RC820 component speakers in all 4 doors and had a JL 250/1 pushing a JL sub under the rear seat.
I got another JL 300/4 amp and I am going to Bridge this amp to run the front to sets of Boston components and the rear Bostons will be run by the onther bridged JL 300/4.......
Think I'll notice a difference from the single JL 300/4 to the 2 bridged 300/4's?
I haven't done anything like this before --- I'm a novice... Just lookin' to see what to expect? Louder? Clearer at low volumes etc....
Thanks guys
TJ

I wouldn't think you'd hear a HUGE difference. Might be a bit crisper in some areas. The speaker dynamices might show more benefit from more power therfore sounding better. Somehow I doubt it'll do much. I've found subwoofers benefit more in SQ with more power. If you have 4 tweets and 4 mids and give each it's own channel then put a complex crossover network on it to manage the dynamics of each channel then you might hear more a difference because of the ability to adjust everything independantly. Just my thoughts, hopefully you see an improvement.
While there will be some improvements, I agree with ViperGrendal in that the differences will not be astounding. That doesn't mean that it won't be beneficial to do what you suggest. Just be realistic and understand that sometimes the advantages of a certain set up won't always be audible. A set up can be improved upon in other ways than ones that make a HUGE difference in sound level or sound quality.
I would change the deck to an eclipse 5435
reason much higher quality 5volt preamp, the sound quality difference between the kenwood and pioneer would be minimal.
I would bridge the jl to2 channels on the front speakers and not add a second amp for the rears.
I would run the rear speakers on radio power for rear fill only.
do you or have you considered a sub? thats where I would use another amp.
or if you are set on having 2 300/4 amps run 1 amp bridged to the front tweeters and the second to the front mids so you can eliminate the passive crossovers and do everything active.(this option is very expensive vs benefit)
If you never considered this speaker setup its easy and free to test with your existing stuff. Simply bridge the amp to the fronts and disconnect the rears for now and see what you get.
