Okay, I've been out of the audio scene for a number of years. In my college days, I used to install/design custom systems for people to help pay the bills.

So, when I was researching this stuff Orion HCCA, Soundstream, Zapco, etc... were very good quality products. These things seem to change overnight though.

Can anyone recommend a really nice quality 5-channel amp?

Basically, I'm looking for a very, VERY clean signal. I'm looking for maybe 35-50 watts per channel and maybe 80-150 watts RMS on the sub channel. I don't want to break the bank though, because I'm not running Focal components this time.

My first thought was the exact amp I am running now. An Arc Audio 5150XXK. It does 45 x 4 and 190 x 1. It is pretty small and the sound quality, I think, is second to none. Alpine makes a good one, Eclipse has one. I had the Memphis Belle a while back but, it does 75 x 4 and up to 1,100 x 1 @ 1 ohm. Probably overkill for what you need. For high end:

Genesis
Helix
Brax

Infinty, MTX, JBL, Phoenix Gold also make 5 channel amps. If I had to choose one, I would go with either the:

DLS Classic CA51
DLS Reference RA50
DLS Ultimate A7
Arc Audio xxk5150
JL Audio 500/5
Audison SRX-5

That is just some of my choices...

 

I forgot about the DLS. I would for sure put them in the high end. Suppose to be great amps.
