Question Help with "Big 3" upgrade?!

I'm almost done upgrading the big 3 but I can't find the braided ground wire that goes from the engine block to the frame. I have a new body style 5.4. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure I know what your talkking about. I didn't swap any braided line. I'm not even sure if there is one. Where did you get this info?

From reading other audio forums. I sure couldn't find one but I have to wonder how the motor is grounded to the frame for all of the accessories. Like the alt, ac, etc. I did upgrade the alt power to battery, ground from battery to firewall, and ground from starter to frame (maybe that's the one?), with 2 guage copper. It helped with my dimming slightly but I think I will go for a deep cycle battery next. Any input would be great, thanks.

You'll be fine with that...I have the dimming problem w/ my system. I have the big 3 with 1/0 cable and a yellow top. I'm drawing alot of power (you can see my system in my gallery). I'm gonna add a HO alternator to fix my electrical problem once and for all.

I have a 500 watt system at most. With that in mind and with the upgrades I have done in mind, do you think a yellow top would help with the dimming? It gets better with everything I do, it's really not that bad.

I can't say much for the stock battery, the lights will dim when I turn my blower on or rolled the windows up, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!

I would start there...with the yellow top. If you still have dimming, I would try a Batcap 800...its a cross between a battery and a cap. It acts like a deep cycle battery more. It's very small, 1/4 the size of a standard battery. Put it close to your amp. I know people that have put 4 of them in place of deep cycle battery. They have 800 cca's, so 4 of them would be 3200 cca's.

EDIT: Actually, you could go with a Batcap 300 or 400.

Have you priced an upgraded alt? Are you thinking 200 amp or more? I don't have any experience with caps but most people bash them, I wonder why?

Alternators are $300 plus. Not sure what amperage I will get. Also, I'm not recommending a cap...I think they suck as well. The Batcap is different. The 800 is a minature battery...straight up!
