Where do you run the power wire?

I was wondering where you would run the power wire for the amps? I don't want to have to drill through the fire wall. On my '01 Stratus, I ran the power wire from the engine compartment through the drivers side front fender, into the cab, and under the door frame molding, under the seat to the trunk. How have you guys run it? I have a '04 F150 SCAB.
Thanks, HAM

Do a search. There is a grommet behind the battery on the fire wall that will fit 0AWG cable.

Do I have to cut through that grommet--cut a slit? I assume that goes right into the dash area?

I just installed my system this past weekend. Mind you, I have an 05, but behind the battery is a big wiring harness. Under that is a grommet, take out the grommet and you can fit up to a 1/0 cable (with a little filing). Comes out just under the dash. Nice and easy.

Bryan--
Nice freakin' truck man! I think I saw the pics before I went to work, but they are not there now. I would like to see them again for a more "studied" reference. If I remember right, you went with a 70A circuit breaker too, right?

Nope, not my audio pics...I haven't posted any yet. About the circuit breaker, if you have a capable in-line fuse that should be sufficient enough (depending on you system).

I have a 2000 F150 and I went through the grommet . The best way to do this, is look inside the truck and run the wire through the inside and feed it out into the engine. Was pretty easy install. I had put a slit in it and then push hard and the wire slides through. I put 4 guage wire on it and it went right through. I used a little seal and tape to make sure nothing leaked. Pics on ur request.

Must've been someone else then...
I like the circuit breaker cause to me it's easier to pop it and then work on your system then having to disconnect your battery.

I am going to mount my amp behind the rear seat on the wall to keep everything hidden. Would you guy recommend running the power wire along the inside under the right side floor panels? I understand you should keep the speaker wires and RCA's away from the power wire so you don't get noise in the line.

Thanks!
Dave

Yes that is absolutely true. Keep the power wire away from all of you signal lines. And I would suggest running all lines in that "trough" underneath the plastic molding on the door frame.
How did you get you power wire into the cab? I was going to run it on the right side (next to the battery) and back through the cab, but I don't know (and haven't tried to see, yet) if there is a way through the front fender into the cab.
Thanks...

yea if you pull the step panel off the passanger side, where the panel starts going vertical kinda up under the dash, there should be several rubber seals to choose from, and you just add them to the wires that are already there. to get there from the battery you should be able to open the door and just feed it between the outer fender wall and inner fender. just be careful to stay away from the hinges! and there is plenty of room under those plastic step panels for wire.

for better sound quality invest in a good set of shielded rca cables you will not have any sound interference. You can buy them at best buy or the source.

Cool

There is a big grommet on the drivers side firewall.I used this one to run my 8 guage amp power wire thru, and my 10 guage alarm wire too. And,there is still room for more wires.
