alpine vs kicker amp need help....

I am wondering if anyone has opinions on either of these amps? I am looking to run 2 10" mm2104 polk momo subs (300 rms) each, the amps are Alpine MRD-M605 600 x 1 at 2ohms or kicker kx600.1 same rms rating. I am running a rockford power 551s series amp now and just needs more power any help would be appriciated.

Both brands make nice solid amps. Not sure about that Alpine, but the Kicker is very underrated. Its more along the lines of 700-750 watts RMS. Im sure those subs will be able to take that though. I would say you would be fine with either one.

Isnt that RF amp 500 or 550 watts RMS at 2 ohm? If it is I would just stick with that, if they are already getting 250-275 watts a peice your not going to tell a difference by adding another 50ish watts to each one.

it is 275x2 at 2ohms but when i put in the polk momo subs from the mtx subs i had i lost a lot of volume and the deep bass that rattled my dash and everyone i talk to about it says the box volume is correct and the problem is that i am under powering them.. I switched to them to get a tighter cleaner bass than what i was getting with mtx subs.
I stoped at a local shop and he said that they should hit alot harder than what they are and i need more power also. so i hope there right and i am not wasting money!!!
I was going to go with the kicker amp until i called crutchfield and talked to a tech there and he said kicker is great but the alpine is supposed to be identical and he favors there mono amp over kicker and said besides that one is a $100 cheaper but on ebay there are really close in price so i am still thinking the kicker might be the one to go with since i too heard they are very underated watts wise and are one of the top amps, alpine just doesn't seem like they set the bar like they did in the past moving to more economy products. I could be off, but that is what it seems like happened to me.
any help is appriciated thank you.

I think the RF amp is definitely not a good match. The subs are 4 ohms, so if you have them wired in parallel and have the amp bridged you are using that amp beyond its recommended limits. A common reason for failure. And, if you have them run one on each channel in 2 channel operation, then your subs are only getting 140 watts each RMS. That's RF's 2 channel rating into 4 ohms. The 270x2@2ohms rating is meaningless, because this set-up will not yield those figures in 2 channel mode because each sub is 4 ohms. Undoubtedly the subs will be "louder" with either of the other amps and the subs wired in parallel at 2 ohms.

Go with the Kicker Amp for your subs.

kicker makes some great products...funny how you never really hear much about them though.

either way you'll be treated right...

if it's too loud, you're too old...

Buy Japanese for head-units and American for amps.

I think cadence makes the best amps out there. I have used them for years and for the price i think they are the best. You always know you will get the amount of power they are rated at.
