Amp cuts out

i have a JL 300/2 that i just bought used off of eBay (I know eBay). I hooked it up today to 2 10's in my truck and it cuts out at loud volumes and doesnt sounds near as loud as my earlier setup with a smaller amp. The other thing that is werid is it runs when bridged but when run on both channels the left channel doesnt produce sound. It doesnt blow a fuse and sometimes the power light goes out and other times it just slightly dims. I cant figure it out. The ground is a chassis ground, bare metal, the wiring is 10 gauge from my old setup. I could probably figure it out on my own but i wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. I'm taking it by an installer tomorrow to have them test the amp. Anyone have any ideas?

You need 8 gauge wire to run a 300 watt amp. It might not be getting enough power. Also make sure the impedience matches up on the amp and the subs. That will cause it to cut out if it is to low. Check to see if there a protect mode light on the amp. If it cuts on when your amp cuts off that usually means the subs are wired to low for the amp to handle.
