Amp Wattage
Hello All,
What Amp wattage will power two 10" Sony XPlod Subs. Im looking to install them into my single cab F150 so the sound should thump with the Sony XPlod headunit. (Also, where can I get an Amp for a decent price???)
Please share any helpful information.
Thanx!!!

I think those things ask for about 300W RMS each. Correct me if I'm wrong. You want at least that much power on a good quality 2 channel amp. You're more likely to damage speakers with an underpowered amp you're trying to drive too hard than one with more power. I'd look for about 325-350W RMS. There are alot of good brand amps out there but some of the more experienced guys might be able to offer more specifics on brand and models.
the power might come a little easier (cheaper) if you run them in parallel and find a 2 ohm stable mono bass amp, or something that you can bridge at 2 ohm. Finding 300x2 RMS at 4ohm will not be your most cost effective solution. It would sound cleaner... but for powering subs, difference in SQ between 2 and 4 ohm is splitting hairs IMO.
nom. impedance on those subs is 4 ohm... correct?

It depends on the sub. They can be either dual voice coil or single. Most subs are normally 4 ohms, look at the specs when you buy it. Mono block amps are great and work well with subs. They are more expensive than a comparably priced 2 channel with the same power output. I usually advise people unless they are competeing or putting over 5k in a stereo system to go with a two channel amp for their subs. You just get more amp for the money and they are more versatile.
According to Crutchfield it is a single 4 ohm voice coil with 300 watt RMS power handling.
Here are a few amp choices

Power rating on that Kicker amp is probably conservative, should work very well.

Slightly less power but still a good choice.

Plenty of power, good specs, flashy looks, but a little pricey.

Another good amp, a little pricey.

Just to name a few. You might be able to find lower prices at sites like etronics.com or ikesound.com or thezeb.com.
Hope this helps.

Im not sure what amps he just mentioned, I didnt take the time to check them out, but there is the Zapco 500.1. mono, 500 watts rms at 2 ohms, probably more. cost like 350
How much you want to spend?
Rockford makes a 501bd-500wrms@2ohms. cost about 250 i think
I have a JBL bp600.1. 600wrms at 1 or 2 ohms(works either way)
It was a refurb but it was cheap, 150 bucks at cardomain.
Puts out more than its rated 600 watts too.
I dunno, theres more but I can think of any specific models.
