Question Amp ???

I installed a Pioneer H/U. I thought the 22W RMS per channel was good enough. Wrong! I have Kenwood speakers in that handle 60 RMS. Would an amp of 40 RMS make a difference. I am not going for the bass. Just want it a little louder. And how are Alpine amps?

A nice amp of 60 watts RMS would make a big difference in making your speakers work to their optimum, as you can already see. And a HU amp is deficient in the area of power supply, so if you like to listen "loud" over any period of time, which most of us do, the HU just can't keep up with the current demands to make the speakers really function as they are capable. Keep in mind, though, that your main speakers will not get terribly loud on their own. Even with a nice amp(yes Alpine makes nice amps), your "main" speakers can only get so loud. So much in terms of fullness of sound and dB comes from a suitable subwoofer system that your system will sound thin, when compared to a system WITH subs. You don't have to be a basshead to need subs. They are a natural part of the chain, when it comes to reproducing the full sound spectrum. From your comments, it sounds like you could be happy with an 8" or 10", something to blend PROPERLY with the rest of your system.
