Directed Electronics

Anybody have any feedback to provide on Directed Electronics amps. Specifically, I'm considering the purchase of a DE1200/5 to power a system in my '01 SCrew. I've seen these amps in some highline installations, but have never had an up close and personal with one. Let me know.

They are nice amps. They will do the power they advertise and although there are cleaner amps out there they are more than clean enough to compete and win in competition.

DEI makes good equipment. As a note, DEI owns Orion, PPI, DEI, Viper and I believe one other company. I know they all share the same R&D department, so I'd figure out what your power needs are and just buy the cheapest amp from those lines. I personally like the looks of the Viper amps myself, but I think there on the higher side of the price scale.

I have a DEI 1100D monoblock amp. I pushed 2 DVC DEI Comp 12" subs with it. They were rated at 550 each, the amp handled them beatifully! The subs on the other hand, never did sound quite right. The DEI amps rock, but I would look into other options for subs.

I agree, I liked the Viper line as well, but DEI has discontinued it for 2004.
