Cooling recessed amps

Any of you guy's running recessed amp's have any sort of fans to keep your amps cool? If so, what brand/type are they and do those particular ones make much noise? I need to do something with this 1500D. Went on a road trip this AM bumpin Bass Mekanik most of the way and she got a little warm. I had to mellow out when I starated smellin VC's cookin after about the 4th disk Man that sub/amp setup is LOUD, What??? I can't hear ya

Steve,

I always used a 12V fan that you can get from Radio Shack and many other places. Just be sure you get the brushless type since they are typically much quieter. There is another more specific use fan that looks like a turbine that is even quieter but depending on where you place them you shouldn't have too much trouble.

I do have a question though.

Why would a bass head such as yourself be concerned with fan noise? They can't hear it anyway.

Thanks for the info, got my eyes on a stinger cross flow fan. Might have kind of burned myself with the design of the amp rack, we'll see.

Well I don't always listened to it wide open and I also listen to a wide array of music. I'll get in the mood for techno-rap to Led Zeplin-Rush-metalica-motley crue as well as alternative rock like Limp Bizkit-POD-Sprung Monkey etc. I guess I like it funky The fan on the 50x2 in the dash drives me nuts. It's not loud but can hear it between trracks.

I wouldn't be to worried about it but my usual road trip is 3 hours each way and it involves crossing the Desert. Gets up around 120 in the summer and I will be pretty mad driving across the desert with the bass turning on and off. The latest tweek I put on this thing finally warmed up the amp. Sounds really good to. Yesterday was the first time i've felt any heat coming out of that amp. Could barely touch it and something happened where they all shut off (three seperate amps) and came back on.

i do the same thing as corrgis does.

i run three small 12v vans through my amp rack with is recessed into the back of the rear seat.

they still get hot but they never have any problems.

BTW why just because people like us have muti sub set ups do people assume its all about being a bass head. keep in mind i do consider myself to be a bass head but that does nto mean you cant have sql

i run 4 subs with 3600wrms and have top notch sql
i'm running a 1000wrms frount stage set up. that more then keeps up with the subs. rainbow three way components and two 6inch center channel drivers.

sq IS possible with large.multi subs

Yeah I know first hand that multiple subs can be used for SQ. I had a little Honda Accord years ago that I ran 8- 12" subs in. I was just bustin Steve's *****.
