1995 F150 reg Cab.. a few ?'s..
1995 F150 reg Cab.. a few ?'s..
ok.. so we got everything in for my friends 1995 reg cab f150 install:
infinity ref 6.5's (shallow cause crutchfield said thats all that would fit
infinity ref 6x8's (which i had to dremel the mounting holes larger to line up with the standoffs on the factory speaker mount/grill)
jbl p80.4
so the 6.5's shouldnt be a problem provided i can get the damn window cranks off (any tips? there are no caps hiding screws.. just one plastic piece)
and the 6x8's mounting problem has already been solved.. thank you dremel!
wiring looks straightforward so far.. the 6x8's are going to just drop straight down, the trim doesnt even go to the floor, so thats easy enough.. i dont know about the doors.. looks like its going to be a pain in the *** just looking under his dash in the kickpanel area.. no idea how im gonna route the wires though.. tips?
how about the power wire.. any grommets that i can use or am i gonna have to just drill? he has no carpet, just some rubber floor mat thing so routing everything should be a piece of cake!
now i know i can manage the wiring if you guys dont really know any shortcuts.. the only thing i really need to know is.. is it alright to mount the amp on the back wall of the cab? id mount it somewhere else but its not looking like there is anywhere else to put this thing.. the cardboard on the back of his bench seat doesnt look very sturdy and theres absolutely no room under the seats from what i've seen... is the back wall the only place? and if so.. how exactly do i go about mounting the amp? I am guessing i could have him hold it up while i use a sharpie to mark the holes then just get the drill out and screw the screws in and back them out one by one without the amp in place, then hold the amp up and have at it..
its kind of heavy and i would hate to have 4 holes in the back of his cab only for him to hit a bump and have the amp fall off!
thanks guys.
