Question Y-Adapter ?

Wired up amps this evening. I'm using a US Acoustics 2080 amp to power a single 10 " Alpine sub. The US Acoustic diagram shows a Y-adapter from the amp to the HU. I have run a Two plug RCA from the HU to the amp. Can I just use this std RCA cable or do I need a Y adapter? My HU(pioneer mp5500) shows the std two plug adapter connected t0 the amp.

I'm guessing that the amp diagram is for a HU that has a single Subwoofer RCA output. It's more common to find that on a home theater setup, but I have heard of it on a car HU. If you have 2 RCA's on the HU and 2 on the amp you should be fine with a standard RCA cable. Now, the amp might some wierd setup for wiring a mono sub that requires both RCA's on the HU to go to one on the amp. In that case you would need a Y. I would imagine the book for the amp would clarify more if that were the case.

Just plug them in to the L & R input on the amp, i thing the intructions are asuming you have a mono out put with only a single RCA, witch usaly is never so
