Remote Wire?

Ok, I've got a loaded thunderform under the back seat and made a box/console for two 10" subs. What I'm wondering is which wire can I use to turn on the amps with the radio? I tried to find one when I put in the thunderform but couldn't get the factory radio out of the dash(I used the little tools, but it wouldn't come out). Now that I am putting in a bigger amp, I want to wire it and the thunderform right(it is hooked up to keyed ignition). Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

Did you yank the plastic assembly off that surrounds the stereo? Yeah.. that thing with the Vents that surrounds the Stereo and A/C Controls... you gotta pull that off to get the radio out.

YES You definitely want to use a wire that will lose signal when the ignition is not on.

The simplest way is to just find the fuse that's inline with the stereo's power wire and shove your wire in the slot with the fuse.

Disclaimer: This is a rig job!!! Attempt this install at your own risk.

I already have the wire on keyed ignition but I would like to hook it up to the stereo wire that shuts off with the radio, not the key.

I took the outer plastic off when I tried to get the radio out. It just wouldn't come out after that.

Now a new problem...Tonight when I shut off the truck, the lights on the stereo did not go off. I had the lights on and shut them off, then shut off the truck ignition and they just stayed on. I turned the lights on and off again and they when out. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Thanks,
Mike

On the stock head unit I don't think there is any wire that you can use for the remote wire other than the ACC, it doesn't have a wire that energizes and de-energizes with the radio power.

i don't think the stocker has a REM. lead either....you said you have the 2 u shaped removal tools for the radio and it didn't work? you need to push them in pretty hard then pull out rearward and towards the doors at the same time.........

Thanks guys,
Ya I think the radio is just stuck. I put the tools in and tried it a couple of times, but if there is no power antenna wire or something like it I don't need to take it out. Thanks,
Mike
