High flow muffler with OEM pipes

Looking at buying a flowmaster 40 delta series muffler for my truck. What I want to do is replace the OEM muffler with the new one but use the same pipes. Has anyone done this? I seen one done on youtube, and it sounded pretty good. I know this swap would make the truck pretty loud, and thats okay with me. I don't expect much of any power gains, I only want a more agressive tone. Just curious on if anyone has done it, what people think of the idea, and maybe some type of video of it.

Hey, High flow is what it says. I'm thinking it would have more flow than the stock clunker. And to the person who did it, did it make a noticable difference in your exhaust note. Or in lamest terms, was it worth the money?

There's no problem in swapping muffler like this....
To make it sound even better cut the exit pipe back and put a tip on....

I would not use a flow master though....my choice would be borla

I looked at the borla mufflers and they were almost twice the price. Not to say they didn't sound good, I just didn't like the idea of paying so much for a more subdued sound. I want an agressive sound. idk, I have always liked flowmaster exhaust. I guess it really all comes down to personal preferance. Does anyone have a video of something comparable to what i have (CAI and edge evo) with a aftermarket muffler with OEM pipes on a 5.4?

Some further research on your part on your choice of using a Cai along with a programming device that only offers canned tunes that don't adjust your afrs for your Cai is well advised before you pucker your motor....upgrade to a Gryphon along with custom tunes before that happens...

Then think about a muffler...

Why not just have them chop the muffler and weld in a piece of pipe instead? Even cheaper, and it'll be loud

I was thinking of switching to a gyphon, but both edge products and the peole from gyphon said if the truck hasn't had any problems, there is no point to switching. Been running the CAI for about 12,000 miles now, and the edge for about half that. Haven't had any issues. Even drove the truck from Fort Bragg, NC to Michigan, then all the way the Fort Huachuga, AZ. Got pretty decent gas mileage also considering the motor size. Right now all I want is a louder, more agressive tone. I don't want to just put a pipe where the muffler is. Thank for your help everyone.

Stick a Bullet or Magnapack under there. Same price as the Slow... I mean Flowmaster, and much better sound.

Hasnt PHP done testing showing the stock exhaust to flow quite well? I know you want sound though so that doesnt help much.

Go with a Bullet. Cheap and nasty sounding.
