Increasing MPG

I just bought a new to me 2004 F150 Screw 5.4 with 3.73 gears and 65k on the clock. It has a level kit with 33 toyo mts. I have only had it for a week and a half so I have not had a chance to calculate the actual mileage, but the indicated is 11.4 (mixed) since fill up last week. I know the larger tires are not helping, but I do like the look and my actual mileage is going to be a little higher than calculated (without factoring in the larger tires) since I am actually traveling farther than the truck thinks per revolution. My question is, is there anything cheap and easy that will improve my mileage. I plan on doing the Gotts mod intake after a few tanks so that i can actually tell if its making a difference or not. Will doing things like fuel injector cleaner, replacing fuel filter, etc. help at all? The oil and air filter are good and clean. I am seeing that a lot of people on here with a similar setup to mine are claiming ~13 MPG.

I have the stock 18" chrome rims with 275/65/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers, with a Hell Bent Steel 2.5" level kit, and I get about 15-16mpg every tank (combined highway and city), I'm not sure how its geared, just stock I guess. Not sure what can be done to increase gas mileage really. I'm not really sure that the Gotts Mod will help you that much, if you run your engine too lean its going to burn out really fast. If ford believed the engine would run better with more air, they would have built it that way...but I am a novice and not an engine buff...so thats just my opinion

Changed the fuel filter recently? A dirty one can hurt gas mileage pretty badly.

No, but I have only had the truck for a little over a week. About what mileage are you supposed to change it?

Oh yeah x2 on cleaning the MAF.

Cleaning the MAF and changing the fuel filter combined wont run you over $25-$30. I got great results from both.

What do you clean the MAF with, rubbing alcohol?

Buying a tuner would negate any mileage increase for a long time. I'm going to see what i can do for under $100 first.

There is specialized cleaner for it. There are tons of ways to improve and kill your MPG. It all depends on what your using your truck for and how much you plan on moding it.

The easy (read cheap) ones are cleaning the MAF, replacing filters, gotts and getting an oil change.

If you really want some noticable differences (read more expensive), look at getting a custom tune (~450), dual exhaust (some will argue with me) (~400), underdrive pulleys (~200), and possibly electric fans (~200). The last two have been widely debated but have been proved to improve mpg.

Also, try the search feature of the forum. LOTS of info on all of these!

OK, ill stop by an auto parts store today and get some cleaner and a fuel filter. I dont plan on modding too much. I did that with my ranger and it was fun while it lasted but modding usually means more maintinence and less practicallity. Plus, spending $1000+ to gain 3 MPG hardly seems worth it to me. Although I have heard good things about Efans. A Taurus efan was a popular swap on rangers and could be had fron junk yards for relatively cheap. Is there a junk yard efan that would be a fitting swap for the 150 or would only something like the mark truck fans fit (which would be pretty hard to find I would think.

So a Taurus fan will pull enough cubic feet of air per second to cool the 5.4 while towing?
