Run it over to Autozone and get it scanned for codes.

X2

Just be sure to get the right one. DO NOT buy one for a 2006.

The summer blend fuel has been going around for a few weeks now. I was getting 16 before, now I'm getting 17.5.

There's no autozone around my work but maybe jiffy lube will do it (I know oil can henrys will).

I have a new fuel filter but probably won't get it on till the weekend.

So it's throwing three codes: p2106, p0113, and p0102. P0113 is IAT sensor 1 circuit high input. What is the IAT sensor? P0102 is MAF A circuit low input so I'll check the MAF tonight. I don't know what p2106 is, maybe somethin trans related? I assume all three were tripped by something I did to the MAF since it came on after cleaning it and one code is directly MAF related.

Edit: just googled the p2106 and it seems to be a tps issue. Could this be caused by a problem with the MAF?

IAT is inlet air temperature.

Are you sure it's P2106 and not P0216 Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction or P0206 Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder #6?

It sounds like you disassembled the intake to get at the MAF, and not everything was plugged back in right.

I'm sure of the code numbers.

I'll check at lunch to make sure I plugged the wires back into the MAF. I was in a hurry when I did it so maybe that's the problem, but I can't believe I would be that stupid. I would take the humiliation over any serious problem with the truck though lol.

Edit: Yeah, I forgot to plug the MAF back in lol. Just glad it was an easy fix.

yeah, plugged the maf in and everything is running fine now and I am getting about .5 mpg better than before i cleaned it (about 4 mpg better than running with it unplugged lol). I am heading out to get supplies for gotts mod tonight. Hopefully I can get above 12.2 (highest I have seen for the month i have owned the truck driving 75% city/rural roads 25% highway)

I know, I feel like an idiot lol.

I know losing the mts and going with a stock size highway tire would help and that may be in my future. I bought the truck with the level wheels and tires so I'll keep it as is until I need new tires then make that call. I do like the looks now but highway stock size tires are really more practical for me.

Should be doing the gotts mod today and maybe changing the oil so well see what that does for me.

So I just finished my gotts mod. Took about 20 min because I added my own variation and had to do some unexpected trimming. I used about 8" of 3" ABS and a rubber 3" to 3" coupler. The coupler is really soft and makes a good seal on the fenderwall and conforms to the oval shape. I did have to thin it out a bit with a razor blade though to fit in the hole with no wrinkles or kinks. Have not driven it yet to see if there are any noticeable performance differences since I have a few other things in process for the truck at the moment.

When i had the intake off I noticed a bunch of small holes on the bottom side, are they for water drainage just in case you hit a big hole or something? Seems like a convenient way for warm engine air to get in to me. Has anyone plugged them up?

So i noticed about .5 mpg increase from the gotts mod, hardly enough to know if it was a result of the mod though. So no one has plugged those holes on the bottom of the intake?

I did change the oil for the first time since I bought the truck. I waited because the guy had just changed it and it was still very clean. However, the guy must have used some really thick oil or something because after putting in 5W30 i am getting about 2 more mpg and the oil wasn't even dirty when I changed it. So now I am getting around 13 mpg city/country roads, an unexpected but pleasant surprise from an oil change.

In a 04, you should be using 5W20.

Those holes won't pull enough air in to make a difference.
