Question DarrenWS6 or anyone else I have a ?

DarrenWS6 you've been helpful so I figured I'd pick on you... LOL

So I'm installing my new exhaust tonight...

I have been going back and froth about either running it straight out the back with the tip, Bending pipes so they would exit behind the rear of each tire with tips or dumping them after the axle under the truck. So nothing would be seen...

Currantly I have my exhaust dumped after the axle...
That's right I wanted a new look and to be rid of the nasty OEM Pipe.
So I broke out the power tools!!!

What your opinion or any one elses on what I should do???

Here's what I have: If I don't use the Tips they will be for sale...

AirAid modular intake tube, K&N filter, Magnaflow Exhaust, Line-X'd bed and fender wells, 2.5 Inch AS Level Kit and 3 inch AS Rear Block, 1 Mile range Viper 5900 SST remote start and alarm system, JL Audio Stealthbox, JL Audio 500/1, JL Audio 300/4, Alpine Type-R 6.5 inch components in front doors, Alpine Type-R 5x7's in rear doors, Alpine Iva-w505, LOTS of Dynamat, 15% Tinted windows, Billet Grills in factory H-bar and lower bumper.

I love the look of straight out the back. My cousin has them bent out the sides like the factory pipe is. How did you dump them? Just cut the pipe and thats that?

The factory pipe... Yes, I cut it off just after the axle. Didn't make it any louder!
But did make it look nicer IMO...

Thanks for the input.

Keep the opinions coming Guys. I'm going to do this in about 4.5 hours

Straight out looks good sometimes, but I personally prefer side exit out the back. Reasons? You can tow without throwing the exhaust gases/fumes at the towing object, no sound bounce off making it annoying in-cab, side exit angled is a bit louder coming down the road, echos better between building structures and vehicles, and it looks friggen awesome.

Straight out the back, only benefit I see is less dirty tips. Too many Chevy trucks out there run straight out too. Straight out is for cars imo.

And if you are considering different tips, I would definitely suggest a rolled edge!

VERY NICE!!! I think I'm SOLD...

I love the look...
And agree with you about rear exit looking better on cars.

Angled looks good ( Pardin the PUN ) from all angles!!

Thanks...

Well only an hour before the old one comes off and the new one goes on!!!!

Cool

Thanks Guys for all the feed back!!

Well it's installed...
It took some modifications to the pipes but over all I'm very happy with how it came out!
I think if I had a Screw with the 6.5 foot bed it would have gone right on...

For now I had to run the pipes out the back because where the bends where in the pipes it didn't leave enough room to rework them out the sides.

Come spring I'll most likely have some new rear pipes bent up because I do really like the look of them out the back behind each tire!!
And after hearing it, I figure dumping it might be a little loud for my taste...

Went with the Magnaflow 12258 muffler. Just what I wanted!!
Nice smooth deep idle, Barely any drone, (even at 80) and that Muscle car growl when you step on it!!

Step 1: Unboxed and painted all the pipes, hangers, and clamps with high temp flat black / 30 min
Step 2: Removed the factory system / 15 min
Step 3: Test fitted all pipes and modified / 1 hour
Step 4: Installed new system and mounted all hangers / 45 min
Step 5: Fired the B'''' UP!!!!!!

Only thing I haven't done yet is install the tips.
I'm thinking about leaving them off until I run them out the sides.
The flat black pipes coming out the back don't look bad or stand out to much.
Although the tips are clamp on so I could easily take them off again!!
