Is there a Forum or Thread that discusses the 2022 F-150 Lightning (Electric F-150)
I've looked all over and I don't see not one thread about the new electric truck coming out next spring. They just did the reveal of it last week and I thought you guys would have been fully discussing it by now.
So, no threads or forum yet?
I did a pre-order on one and it looks VERY promising.

Gosh, I was just reading an article about it.
We just installed some 6.6kw electric vehicle chargers at work. Pay by card or touchless.
I'm still leery about electric, but I got 220v out in my shops so getting a proper fast charger wouldn't be an issue. Just when I'm out in the middle of no where.

This ain't no game and nothing is changing.
Once the real life range data is exposed this EV will have less actual range than a Prius.
What would be the real range on this truck towing a 4000 lb boat in 90° F heat with the air conditioning running?
Most likely less than 100 miles?

I've been researching and the battery range and a lot of other numbers are very conservative and the actual numbers are higher. Ford does not want to promise stats that they can't deliver on so from what I've been seeing, their numbers are very conservative. We'll see.
I have been following the development of this truck for a year and was really hoping it would be a viable option. Even with the extended range 300 mile battery upgrade, the current EV technology available dictates that the actual miles when it's used for towing is going to be significantly less. All EV's are directly affected (range) by any other source that utilizes power. Headlights, air conditioner, heater, and towing all detract from useable range. Even when EPA does the range calculation for the window sticker it will not include the above detractions.
Ok mikesxpress, we get it... you're not a fan.
This used to be the place where we ALWAYS discussed EVERYTHING about F-150s.
When will a forum open up about this electric truck?
Can admin jump in and maybe help me out with this question?
Thanks.

I'm still on the fence about electric vehicles in general and practicality. I'm not against it, but it's still to early to see.
I would like to have an electric vehicle and have a fuel burner too on hand still. I still find electric vehicles a novelty item so far.

I'm concerned that we are getting into something that will work like cell phones did where the new tech makes the old tech worthless.
Solid state batteries are one concern but Toyota proving Hydrogen is a clean viable option in their last range test where they set a range record can also tip the scales of the resale value.
I currently have a 2016 F150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost that is my daily driver and I drive it 120+ miles each day and I also have a 1990 F250 with the 460. I was looking into a hybrid or electric vehicle to use for a DD and liked that I could still have a truck so I made my reservation. Now with it already being outdated before it ever hits the market has made me pause.
I have a reservation also but not sure I will keep it. My plan was to use it for a couple years then trade it in but I think the resale value will plummet after learning about the new solid state batteries coming out. Solid state batteries are much lighter then lithium batteries and they charge a lot faster and the range is over 1,000 miles.

I said the same thing to a buddy who also preordered it. I told him my worry is that in 2023 or 24, they have a new electric F-150 that has longer range, more power & torque and with quicker charging batteries.
The cell phone analogy is a perfect example.
I'm still very optimistic about making this purchase though.
Hey, this truck will be a game-changer. The reality is that 90+% of work trucks drive less than 170 miles a day. I think Ford said it was 95%. The average person who drives 15,000 miles a year, drives only 41 miles per day. This electric truck will be better than the gasoline version - in almost every way. And I get it, someone will get on here and tell me that they drive 500 miles a day, towing a 10,000 lb trailer, etc, etc. Well, guess what, you are the outlier. This vehicle is not designed for you - get over it. It does not mean it won't work for the 90% of the people who drive an F150 as a commuter, occasionally drives further than 300 miles a day, or pulls a 5,000 lb boat 2x a year. This is the future.

Another problem with electric vehicles is folks don't have 240v out in their garage. Especially if you have an older home, some junction boxes and fuse boxes would never be able to handle it.
Unless you know of someone, or you are savvy (in a safe way) with 240v, you're gonna need a professional to deal with it.
So on top of buying an already expensive truck, you now need to do a home wiring project.
Not to forget a quality high rate charger.

It will cost around $1,200 to install a 240v plug.

I like the truck and reserved one also but as I pointed out above I am concerned with the resale value and being outdated with the new stuff like "solid state batteries" and "Hydrogen".
