Hey everyone,
I was at the Houston Rodeo this past weekend, and my jaw just about hit the floor when I saw what Ford had brought in. Didn't get any pictures of her- but got some of the Atlas Concept!









It is an amazing looking truck, Ford spent 2 million on it.... and seemingly thought of everything.

Few things that popped out to me:

-ATV/Utility ramps built into the bumper

-Grille AND Wheel shutters that automatically close to reduce drag and give 2 MPG's

-Hids in tails and headlights (of course)

-The man step also acts as a roof rack system

-Button for the tailgate instead of a handle.
-The girl who was the professional at knowing everything about it wasn't sure if it was a power tailgate or not, but she's supposed to be emailing me about it. As well as a few other questions I had about it.


If you're in Houston- Go to the rodeo, if only to see the Atlas

 

I just don't like it. Really getting too halo warthog styling for my tastes. Too bad you didn't get the good one ;-)

 

That ATLAS across the hood is ghey.....but all those of other features could hold some promise ....

Dang i was hoping for a chick pic too....

 

Yeah, I suppose SUPERDUTY across the hood of my truck is too. . Sure beats TRD (turd) on the side of the Yotas.

They spent $2m on any gadget that they could fit on it, the body lines & trim lines simply are so out of parallel, any accredited university design studio should be using this (like the original Caddy STS) as an example of what poor design is.....even the exhaust- the concept is understood, it just does not parallel the form of the core vehicle...but it is absolutely right for the niche market- you know the one that the owners don't really know or understand anything about vehicles, they just see one "bling type item", and buy the vehicle just for that.......oh, did I say Fiat 500?

Anybody have a chance to look under and see if they removed the rack and pinion steering and went back to a steering box?

No full size truck should ever have a rack and pinion. That was a bout a stupid as other companies going to a unibody on their SUV's and trying to sell it as a bonus!

 

There are some nice integrated designs/features but there are just too many gaudy items that just cream "copied from a ricer"

 

I like it...nice design cues; however the interior needs to be toned down and made into a more realistic truck interior. I'd imagine the toned down production model is going to be pretty sharp...also need to make sure they stay with the HID headlights, can't tell if those are HID or not? Lockable storage in the bed would be nice as well. Don't thik I'd order a 1st year model after a major redesign though...I may look at a 2016 after they've worked the bugs out of it.

 

Very nice looking trucks for sure, if my 2013 fx4 holds together until paid off I'll definitely be in the market for one in 4-5 years.

 

Hey, nothing wrong with the STX. I had a 2004 STX flareside with the tie downs on the side. I loved that truck. But it was a single cab and my daughter came along, so had to trade it in 2006. Man I miss that truck...
