FordPass delete

Only have had my 2020 F-150 a week now, and the dealer is calling every day to set up FordPass. What's the story on this? I'ma tin foil hat kind of guy, don't bring phone to places, don't use many apps. Is this transmitting data anyway?

Tell the dealer you aren't interested. It's an optional service.

With FordPass Connect,™* drivers and passengers can enjoy an in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot powered by AT&T. Up to 10 devices can connect at once, and you can use FordPass™ to keep track of your Wi-Fi data usage. Also, you can access the hotspot from up to 50 feet outside the vehicle.

*FordPass Connect, an optional feature on select vehicles, is required for certain remote features and requires the FordPass App and Ford Connect Service (see App Terms for details). Service for 2020 and later model years includes a 1-year trial for remote features. Excludes Wi-Fi hotspot and starts with original vehicle sales date (after which, fees may apply). Connected service and related feature functionality is subject to compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks may affect functionality and availability, or continued provision of some features, prohibiting them from functioning. Certain restrictions, 3rd-party terms or message/data rates may apply. Wi-Fi hotspot includes complimentary wireless data trial beginning at AT&T activation and expiring at the end of 3 months or when 3GB of data is used, whichever comes first, but can’t extend beyond complimentary subscription period for remote features. To activate, go to www.att.com/ford.

Yes, exactly what glc said - it's optional.

I opted for the Ford app. Every time my truck threw a code at the dealer, it came up on my cell.

Pulled the #10 modem fuse. It's a combo unit with whatever #11 is, but don't see anything else not working. Tinfoil hat fits more comfortably now.

The dealership gets extra $$$ when you sign up.

Pros:The only reason I still entertain it, is it allows me to start my vehicle via the phone. I do not have an autostart function and if I did it would work if I am out of range (even if I had one). You can see your distance to empty, tire pressure, oil percentage as well.
Cons: stuff you don't need or want, tracks where your vehicle is, and seems slow to boot up on my (admittedly older) Galaxy phone. Also, you have to say you are not driving checkbox.

If I can get autostart added for cheap, I'll dump FP.

I've had my 2020 for about 7 months and haven't downloaded the app or logged into fordpass. I ordered my truck with remote start so I have no interest in fordpass.

It also keeps track of the points you earn when using Ford service.
I got my 1st oil change. I had to use synthetic. $127.00,1200 points.
