Dtc p0471 on 2018 2.7l eco

Had this a few times now. Code says exhaust pressure sensor out of bounds. There is a TSB that says if only code replace sensor. Sensor is cheap and labor time is 15min. Question is... Where is it? Does anyone know where the sensor is located?

Roadie, the TSB says replace the sensor.

Service Procedure

Replace the exhaust pressure sensor. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14A.

Yes TSB says replace sensor. No reprogram unless that is in service manual but I suspect that unlikely. Just hoping someone knows where I need to look so I can do the repair without searching for an hour.

I think it's on the EGR pipe or EGR cooler. Just trace the pipe to the cooler. I think it's on the cooler though if I recall correctly.

For anyone trying who has this issue and does not want to take their vehicle to the dealer for 3 days, I will detail below. Part can be had at local dealership for about 50 or found online through tasca for 20ish. Part number from TSB JT4Z-9J460-A.

Remove negative battery cable. 10mm socket for me.

Engine cover does not need to be removed but I removed it looking for the sensor and it made a bit more space.

To remove the engine cover remove the 2 10mm bolts in front and the oil cap. Pull up and slide forward.

Sensor is located on the front of the motor on the egr pipe.

Remove the plug. Pull white tab up then pull plug straight up off of sensor.

Use 24mm socket and remove sensor.

Re-install sensor. I don't have the torque spec but fairly tight should do.

Reconnect battery cable. Re-install cover if removed. Put oil fill cap back on! Do not forget this step!

Start vehicle and use hand to feel for leaks around new sensor. No leaks, call it a day.

Battery cable

Cover nut removed

Cover nut 2 and oil cap removed. Sensor can be seen to left in front of cover. Cover not necessary to remove.

Sensor unplugged. Remove and replace with 24mm socket.

Nice write up!

It was a 50/50 change on the EGR pipe or the cooler.
