Just bought a new 2019

My bank just bought this beauty from a local dealer in my name. Coming from a 2008 XL 5.4, this thing is like a spaceship. Glad to be keeping it in the Ford family though. Anything I should keep an eye out for in terms of reliability?

Thanks! It's a 2.7l eco XLT with the 302a package. Way more bells and whistles than the '08 xl I'm stepping up from!

Awesome, I think you'll like it.

The only thing with Ecoboosts, just change the oil every 5k, and the plugs at around 30k, and you'll be a happy camper. Along with the usual maintenance items.

Yeah, they are coming a long way on vehicles in general.

Had my truck in for it's yearly inspection a few weeks ago, and I was eyeballing a 2018 F-350 XL work truck with the 6.7l, and even thought it was "base" model, it had power windows, locks, etc. Way more than my '07 F-150 has. Interesting to see how the basics evolve. Including the cost...

Kind of looking forward to getting a new truck, but I like no payments, and my truck still is under warranty, and has super low mileage. So, eh... it's more of a want than a need right now.

I'll keep the OCI in mind, 10k is what the dealer told me was "acceptable" but that almost sounds like "we want you to run the thing into the dirt every oil change so we can get some more money out of you when it breaks." You say to do the plugs around 30k, what's your reasoning? Don't these come stock with some sort of platinum/iridium/kryptonite/unobtanium plugs? I have no objection to doing that, just curious.

This thing is a sweet upgrade from the '08. I have no regrets...yet. We shall see as the miles roll on.

They are Motorcraft Platinum. Turbocharged direct injection gasoline engines are hard on plugs.

Ecoboosts seem to develop misses with plugs when they hit around 40k. They are very gap-sensitive.

I believe the OEM plugs are iridium, not platinum. Gap is .030.

Interesting. My 2016 2.7 had 50k when I turned it in. No misses or issues that I could tell at all.

Just beware of dealer service - do a little research before raising an issue with your new baby, some dealers compete for emmy awards when repairs are needed.

Congrats, I've had my 19 for 2 months now and love it. Best truck I've ever had.
Nice color!

Very nice! I pick up my '19 tomorrow afternoon and can't wait. Thanks for the tip on the plugs. I would never have guessed they needed service so quick. I'll keep it in mind.
