Frozen washer nozzles.
Hey everyone,
This current trip to MN and back has me completely motivated to build a heated washer nozzle kit. The biggest hold up is the actual heated nozzle. If you guys can help located a heated nozzle that will fit the hole in the body of a 17 F-150 I will build the first prototype for myself and then make the schematic, component part numbers and mounting points for all components available to everyone here and over on the F150 forum. I have located the temp sensitive snap switch to complete the ground for the relay and will design the system to work both with key on and with my 12V Solutions remote start. Making it work with a factory remote start should not be to difficult. Since the system will be both temp and ignition /remote start on controlled the life of the nozzles will be greatly increased over a system that is on at all times with the ignition.

A helpful trick I found on frozen handles and doors, is getting 90-100% alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray down the affected areas, wait 30 seconds, and it will magically open.

yeah, I made the mistake of not clearing out all the summertime washer fluid one time and it froze everything up solid. I try and find the lowest temperature formula i can find whether that be -25 or -32 and no problems after that.
That of course might be pushed to the limit tonight and tomorrow morning here in Minnesota with temps expected to drop to -30 over night. Yeah you read that correct.

sounds like a lot of work !!!!! Your probable cause of freezing is not having the proper temp washer antifreeze. I make sure to use -45 stuff as soon as winter starts
& the outer nozzles do sometimes get frozen but that I believe is ice forming on the very outside of the nozzle ....a simple trick is to pour a cup of heated water over affected nozzle. takes very little to unfreeze..(I've even used my coffee in a pinch)....Then washers work ok after that so it wasn't the fluid causing the problem..
