2018 F-150 transmission problems (10 speed)
i had a few of the rough shift and rev up with my 10 sp took it in and told the to do the latest tbs on it of course they were reluctant to do it until i showed the a copy of the tbs they did it and wow like a new tranny had 1200 miles and now have 15000 and still good. Can't remember for sure but i think i got info from this site.
I also would like to get that TSB #
I've got 2018 fx4 xlt screw with 38k on it and has had the same issues with shuttering and hard shifting and rev ups going into the next gear. This is the first brand new truck I've ever bought and I'm not impressed by this new truck

Tsb 18-2274
I had to force them to do this TSB on mine. Seems to helped some but it’s going back to the way it was. Clunking on startup and rough shifting up and down and knocking on shifting 4 to 5.

Back in the late winter of 2018 I purchased a 2018 F150 4X4 Platinum V8 with about 2500 miles on it; it was a dealer "tester" so I got a great deal on it. This is my first F150 and I love the truck. I noticed immediately that it would shift hard on occasion, but I chalked it up to just "a truck driving like a truck". About 35,000 miles in, I took it back to the dealer to check out the transmission, which had progressively gotten worse. As it turns out, the transfer case was bone dry (catastrophic failure as noted on my service print-out). I never had any fluid on my driveway, so the transfer case probably came from the factory bone dry. The dealership replaced the transfer case under warranty and all was well. The shifting problem went away. Fast forward to the 40,000 mile mark this month and I noticed transmission fluid leaking from the transmission, but it still shifts fine. Currently the truck is back at the dealership under warranty to fix the issue. It's been there almost a week. This is a large dealership and what I was told is that their transmission crew is backed-up so it might be another week before I get my truck back. Has anyone had an issue with the transfer case? Has anyone had a leaking transmission and smooth shifting?

I have a 2018 F-150 Lariat FX4 with about 40k miles on it. On Friday 9/11 it suddenly lost power on the highway and started shaking violently. Engine light began flashing. I was able to get into a parking lot safely. Shut it off, waited a few minutes then started it back up. Same issue. After about 30 minutes with it off I started it back up to get home, it was still shaking but power was back. Drive it home about 20 minutes and shaking was gone. Engine light did remain on.
Took it in to the dealer on Monday 9/14. They said it was a faulty spark plug and coil. Even though I have evidence of a transmission issue per the Ford app. After getting upset with the advisor and talking to the SM, they admitted the Transmission Aux pump needs to be replaced. Part is back ordered until 10/5 at the earliest. I doubt this will fix it, but we will see how long it last and if the part ever comes in.
There are 5 shift programs.
What program is causing the concern?
The first 'default one' hangs on to the first gear longer before shifting. You will see higher RPM. The shift is quite noticeable due to the very low gear ratios involved.
Is that the concern?
No one is actually describing the precise issue that they have or in what shift mode..
Try the ECO shift mode.
It's smoother shifts faster and skips gears by program intent depending on what the 'foot' does with the throttle.
The truck is offered with all these shift combinations for a wide range of applications.
Do you really understand this or trying to compare to an old style transmission shifting for soft smooth transitions gear to gear. If yes, this is not a truck for you.
Also gear 8,9 and 10 are overdrive gears.
I'm posting this because the complaints are vague and all over the place.
Yes some have an issue but every one may not be the same or even be an issue.

I’m not sure how loss of power and sudden shaking of my truck is not an adequate explanation of the issue it’s having.
The truck clearly has an issue and has been fine up until now. I’d you’re trying to insinuate that this is caused by how the truck is being driven you are blatantly mistaken. It appears you’re vehicle does not have any of the issues listed in the threat and are only here to Troll and cause issues. Please keep your negative comments to yourself because some of us are very upset that we have invested this much into a truck that now has a very large and dangerous issue.
Yes your are upset.
It's not a troll reply.
I said some have issues of concern.
Some do not, in my opinion.
I ask some questions that have not been made very clear on.
In your upset, don't denie my right to ask. Please.
None of my question is negative comment.
Sorry you take it that way.
Good luck.

I assure you, Bluegrass is NOT trolling. He is very knowledgeable but you need to read and interpret his WHOLE post, not cherry pick what may be offensive to you.
Also please note that you aren't the only one posting in this thread with issues, his post may be addressing more than just you?

I have a 2018 Ford F-150- lariat sport. I have 2 issues the transmission is slipping in cold weather, it shifts rough in all weather and it seems to rev at times. I have to take it in for this issue it seems to be getting worse as it gets colder. I’ve read that others have had the same issues.
The second issue is a pumping noise when I open the drivers door after it’s been sitting for awhile. It’s coming from under the cab near the rear of the cab. I took it in for service and they advise it’s normal. It’s the fuel pump priming. I said who would design a vehicle with this annoying noise. Doesn’t seem right. Has anyone had the same issue?

I ask:>>>> what shift modes are involved?
Trans fluid in it's cold state will shift a bit different and firm until the trans heats up.
Look at the Trans temp; on the dash display not the gauge, to see this.
The default shift mode (the first one) will hold onto the rpm longer by design.
Is anyone paying attention and just complaining?

10R80 Harsh Shifts and neutral/skip shifts.
Interesting. I would like to hear more about your shifting issues and whether you are documenting the shifts, the shift mode you are in, and any observations upon any skip shifts.
1. Any harsh shifting into 3rd or 5th? How about downshifts?
2. Any delay or feeling of slipping into neutral and then upshifting into 6th?
3. Are you operating in Tow Mode, or Sport to ensure the transmission runs through the entire shift pattern without skip shifts?
4. Some of these solenoids are variable pressure valves. Which may also confuse the issue and cause inconsistent operation and therefore inconsistent exhibition of the problems. I am digging into that now and working with a dealer on such. I have presented my findings and pinpointed several items to look at. They have test drove the vehicle and carried out some data logging and are forwarding it to Ford. Having been a Product Service Engineer for the Lower Power Train it is difficult for me to be patient while addressing this from the customer seat. BUT, with retirement comes freedom. We always have to look for that silver lining. I'll update you when I get additional news. Remember! DOCUMENT THOROUGHLY and accurately. Omit nothing! It is very important that every detail be scrutinized due to the number of components in the system and how they interact during each gear to narrow down the search for the root cause. Good luck guys!

I have a 2018 XLT with the 10.speed transmission it's been back twice and going back tomorrow for the the trans. Only when it's cold around 6th gear it slips then feels like the truck is in neutral. When I take my foot off the gas it re-engages then bucks. I'm curious as to what they will say tomorrow.
