Anybody Want to Sell Me a New F150?
Did all the research and crunched the numbers for how I want my new F150 specked out. The MSRP fits the budget, so on Monday and Tuesday, I fired e-mails off to 3 local dealers requesting a quote. Told them I am ready to place an order. It is now Day 4 and I still haven't received a single quote. All 3 dealers received the request. I was sitting at the desk of one of them and he still couldn't give me a price because "Ford's system was down." Back in the days before computers, I got a quote in minutes. I guess my money isn't good enough for them.
I suppose you are not playing their game!
There are a few dealers that don't charge doc fees and other fees to drive up the cost. One Ford dealer is Long Lewis close to Birmingham, AL. If you want a RAM, Steve White in Hickory NC.

Usually they want you to come to dealer and sit down and talk.
So they can sell you stuff you don't need usually -- unless you get a terrible salesman that just wants to sell a truck based only on what you want. (Those are my salesmen -- that's how I got my truck!).
I am dreading the day I need to buy a new vehicle... I'd rather keep fixing the ones I got than to deal with the nonsense.

My last 2 truck purchases were throug the Internet salesman at a dealership. Both times went very well and got the truck I wanted at the price I wanted. Sorry you’re having the difficulty. I wonder if it might be caused by the interruption of manufacturing due to the part shortage.

Well, 2 dealers got back to me. The one close enough to walk to from home sent me the wrong quote this morning. When I pointed that out, the salesman started arguing with me, then sent the correct quote and a snarky comment about not wanting to sell me a truck. His pricing is good, but I'm still waiting for his boss to answer my message.
The other dealer answered last night that they had been looking for an in-stock truck that matched what I want, but no luck. Their overall pricing is the same, so now we are refining the details for an order. If the local dealer straightens out the salesman, I will buy there, otherwise.....

It only took 2 weeks, but I finally got good pricing from the local dealer. Unfortunately, the process also ticked me off royally. The salesman kept sending pricing for a truck on the lot, not what I wanted. This afternoon, I walked into the sales manager's office and with the salesman standing there staring daggers, announced I was ready to order a new truck 2 weeks ago and wanted a different salesman. Less than 30 minutes later, I wrote a check. The manager also took $6k off what I was already willing to pay. 2018 F150 XLT Super Crew, 4x4, 5.0, 6.5 bed, 302A package, max trailer tow package and a few other goodies. $35,600
Now I have to wait 6-8 weeks.
