Hail damage on my 2016 crew cab

Hello, 2 weeks ago my 2016 crew cab took some major hail damage. Basically the hood, and roof are covered in ping pong size dents. Every panel on the driver side has 20 plus dents each, windshield is damaged, along with windshield supports. First estimate was $13,000. 2nd guy thinks it’s totaled, insurance adjuster says $7000. Both body shops I’ve tried says the top has to be totally replaced along with every panel down the driver side. Makes me sick have this much repair done to a new truck. Anyone have advice or been in a similar situation? Thanks

It's going to depend on who does the work. There are shops that will cut corners and there are shops that do it right. Then there are shops that think everything should be totaled.

I hate to say it... get some more estimates... yeah, I know it's time consuming, but it is what it is. Remember: It's cosmetic --- at least you got wheels! I'd rather have hail damage than having a tree fall on my truck. At least I can still drive it with hail damage.

Secondly, your insurance should pay for everything, if you have a good company. Any time I've had stuff happen, everything was taken care of. No matter if it was a rear enders, hail, deer, toolboxes flying off trucks, etc... I only had to pay my deductible -- the insurance ate the rest, which is why you pay for insurance in the first place.

Good luck.

I assume it's way beyond PDR (paintless dent repair)?

I don’t think PDR will work, so many dents and some have cracked the paint. I’m gonna get a few more estimates this week. I’m hoping to get it totaled, I don’t want to cut the roof off of a 13,000 mile truck.

PDR wont go much bigger than dime. Not because they "cant" but because its not cost effective to spend that much time on a panel when a replacement is about the same cost, or less even than 20 hrs or something

Ah man, that stinks! We had some decent size hail at my place recently and I was praying my truck would be ok and thankfully I haven't found any dents yet!
